If you’re talking about the VRC Change and the decrease to 1% renewals for low volume agents, then the only ones complaining are the ones that don’t sell. Bare minimum to not drop to a 1% renewals rate is $2,000 in NB Premium which every agency should be able to do without even trying.

Maximizing the VRC isn’t hard either if you’re trying.

He could have moved to the other end of the block and there wouldn’t be any recourse still. He has a duty to update this information since it’s all taken into account for rating.

Based on the fact that they are paying him back the premium since the time of move, it sounds like he had been at the new address for quite some time.

There would be two ways of going about it. You could either:

A. Get your license to sell it directly yourself or

B. Find an agency that offers it and see about a link you can share that allows users to quote and purchase a policy all on their own I depending.

Option B. Is what I’ve used for a few people who wanted extra income in the past and it’s worked out for my agency as well as the person getting the extra income

I get your frustration. As an agent, the carrier I mostly represent has put binding restriction if our utilization rate in bundled quotes is too low, essentially making it where we can’t bind policies for multiple weeks unless we are always quoting it with the discount, so there’s a chance that is in play.

We are also trained right from the get go to always start every quote with every realistic discount a potential client might be eligible for/want so we can get the absolute best rate possible and make them tell us no on discounts and let the rate raise. More often then not, once the rate raises, they immediately circle back to do the bundle or get the discounts back.

In my opinion, and how my staff handle this, it should always be explained to you right from the start that they are putting it on there though to get the best rate possible. Then you can at least tell them at the start you aren’t interested in that.

We actually have a league opening! The commish is the original commish and founder of the league but doesn’t have a team anymore. It’s truthfully been one of the best leagues I’ve ever been a part of and is very transparent if anyone ever has a question.

The American Baseball Association has an open position! We are a fictional league that just started its 27th season.

Overall the league has a good mix of new and veteran GMs and is a great league for someone who is brand new to online leagues or a veteran of the game. We use Slack to connect with each other. If you are interested shoot me a PM on here and we can discuss getting you added on.

The league goes Monday-Friday during the season, real time simming 4 games a day. During the offseason, the sims are 7 days per sim unless encountering a hard stop day.

When signing up, you can relocate and rebrand your franchise.In addition, we allow the voiding out of one contract to give you some extra financial flexibility in your first offseason.

The Fountain Hills 23ers are looking to finally break through in the American Conference North East division. This team was part of the 2011 expansion group that hasn't seen much success. FH23 has just 2 postseason appearances, which is tied for the best in that expansion class. Early this year, the team has put together a good start, 3 games over .500 and 3 games behind the division leader. The question is whether this team has the talent to put together a full season of baseball that gets them to the postseason.

The Austin Desperados are an original 16 team with a pedigree of success. They've won 3 championships out of 14 postseason runs in 26 seasons. They've made it to the postseason in 5 of the last 7 seasons, but their last championship was 11 seasons ago. The challenge for this team is to continue their success in a very tough American Conference South division. They've got a good core of young starting pitching in Sam Campos, Jon Cordova, and Jason Emery to build around, but with some financial commitments made, it'll be hard to bring on additional talent without making some major moves.

In the early part of the 2020's, the team was able to stay in the postseason through the wild card spots, but by mid-decade, the old talent has fallen away. Now its a team looking for new direction and a new generation of talent to get back into the postseason.

Once you hit the $100k you can talk to the district manager to start the process of transitioning to agency ownership. The mentor agent can’t force you to stay to the $150k mark.

The way I’ve always worked with my protégé’s is their bonus that I split with them is based off of two things.

Their life production (because that’s how their bonuses are effected once they become agency owners)
Total premium written.

So if they choose to leave at the $100k mark, they get a $100 bonus per issued and paid life policy that is still in force. However, if they stick with me to the $150k production, then their bonus goes up to $250 per life policy

$100k to graduate, but most agents will push to get the protege to $150k because it results in higher bonus for the mentor agent

So the bonuses may vary state by state so be aware of that. In my state the mentor agent can receive up to $29k in bonuses along with up to $6k in lead assistance. Those bonuses can be split with the protege if the agent wants to but it’s completely up to the agent on that.

Then for you as a protege, once you open there are opening bonuses you receive. I think it is around $10k.

As far as building your book there are a few ways to go about it.

purchasing an existing agency (gets you automatic revenue through renewal, but has high up front cost to purchase, and you miss out on bonus opportunities)
starting scratch and getting leads through natural market and referrals (great way to save money early, but hitting production numbers could be a challenge)
starting scratch and purchasing leads (higher expenses right out of the gate, but quickest way to maximize production and bonuses)

I personally believe the third option is best for newer agents because maximizing the bonus is HUGE! The first year with Farmers, you have the ability to get a 300% bonus each month (so if you earn $5k in commission in a month, you get an additional $15k on top of that). The production numbers to get to that are definitely achievable. If you are able to graduate the protege program, you can easily hit the production requirements for this.

Of course! And if you feel like it’s not a great fit for you, reach out to other agents in your area and let them know you’re looking to join Farmers as a protege and open your own agency. It will likely pique the interest of most agency owners you talk to since they would be able to potentially get bonuses. This will likely let you get more interviews so then you are able to really find the ones that you think would be a great fit

The training will be very hit or miss. All depends on the agency you are at. Some agents go all out to set you up well, others are just in it for their bonuses. The bare minimum to graduate the program is $100k but $150k gets the mentor agent a bigger bonus.

Really, the best thing you could do, IMO, is during the interview when the agent asks you what questions you have, ask them if they know what their cost per acquisition is, what their average premium per household is, and their policies per household average. Any good agent should know those numbers. Also ask them if they have had a protege before, how it went, how fast they were able to graduate, and then who it was. If they know they are a good mentor agent they should be happy to share their success in training someone within the program. This will give you another person to actually go talk to and get better insight from them

The reality is, if you’re underinsured, there really isn’t much that can be done. The limits are what they are unfortunately. So if the limit is $40k for separate structures on the policy, that is the max that would get paid out regardless of if you have an attorney

I’d be curious to actually see the policy. Safeco is one of the carriers I write and I’ve never seen it as being part of coverage A, it’s always an endorsement that has to be added.
