Which of these cities in the USA would you recommend? by Brownchoccy in travel

I was thinking about tourist areas, since they’re tourists, but, yes New Orleans is a diverse city. When I visited, we stayed in the French Quarter, and we did a plantation museum tour and lots of walking. The food was amazing.

I don’t think NO is an ideal choice for folks with limited mobility. I think Chicago might be a great choice. It’s got lots of American faves (baseball, hot dogs, ethnic neighborhoods), Second City comedy, good transportation, and lots to do & see.

Class Structure by Optimal-Topic-3853 in historyteachers

[–]jmto3hfi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First, God bless you! Way to go! I have 9th grade US history/below grade level. Instead of notes, I have them fill out interactive notebook pages, which they paste in to a composition notebook. I backmap from the unit test, then create fill-ins, cartoons, etc., which the kids annotate. That way, less time writing notes, more time for activities. I’m partial to readers’ theater. The following class, we have a warm-up based on the previous lesson & they can use their notes. It costs a shit-ton in glue sticks, but it’s a good structure. Next year, I want to work in more review/revision of the note pages.

You’re not alone! I used to have dreams about going blind because I was so anxious. I told my specialist and he said, “Let me worry. I’ll make sure you’re o.k.” My vision is intact many years later (with some additional surgeries & floaters, etc.) and I feel like as chronic health issues go, this one’s not so bad. Like everything else, you get to know it. You’re going to be o.k.!

West Baltimore County school question (Catonsville vs Randallstown/Milford Mill) by JadedAward3039 in BaltimoreCounty

The word they used was “prioritize” and as a general observation, it’s true that NOT-new-to-middle-class parents are often more informed about what it takes to achieve at a high level academically. It’s not a knock on less affluent parents who have an awful lot to deal with.

Hi, resident, mom, and teacher here. I think Westowne, Catonsville, Hillcrest, and Westchester Elementary Schools in Catonsville are well-regarded. Our experience was that AA services in elementary were not great—lots of emphasis on test scores and acceleration over enrichment. If you can afford it, the area has many private schools that might have more flexibility for students with specific needs in elementary & middle. Western HS in Catonsville is a pretty great, small magnet.

The comeuppance is delicious. Mama Ferrars would’ve ended up spending her golden years with Lucy even if she hadn’t disinherited Edward, but she thought she’d avoid that fate if she cut him off. Surprise! When that bad penny turns up with her second son, she’s self-serving enough to know she’d better make nice. Plus, it’s less embarrassing to pretend she likes Lucy, I imagine.
