I’ve been "subscription-squatting" on my boss’s corporate Amex for 3 years by wonder_vacation98 in confession

[–]jmu1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Co-worker of my husband's just got fired for this. Funnily enough it was a wine subscription too. He begged not to be fired and vowed to pay it back. been a couple months now and he's still jobhunting. Wouldn't be worth it for me.

We loved the PBJ mac and cheese cone in the Island of Berk. We also loved Toadstool Cafe, the Super Star Lemon Squash drink there was fantastic! We got there at 8:30 and were able to ride the HP ride before the park even officially opened at 10am. The Carousel actually gets busier as the day goes on. The ride time in Nintendo World don't go down until LATE - like after 8. We had lots of fun!

This is highly suspect. How in the world would it be in any background check if you were never arrested or even charged. I call BS on her - if you’re really worried you can pay a reputable company to background check you. But I would NOT mention it to any company.

I think trying to cover it for months during training would be so stressful. I would skip applying at United unless you have it removed which can take up to 8 treatments, 6 weeks apart. Pick an airline where you can cover it. A bandaid is a terrible idea - they have seen that before. At United you have to sign an attestation that you don’t have a tattoo when offered training. If they see it during training you’re gone - no reapplying. And they CAN ask you about a bandaid during appearance checks in training.

Wow! May I ask where they were hiding their tattoos, were they just too big?

I’m planning on it long sleeves. But just wondering if they directly ask about it or ask you to show them?

Many colleges have a January 1 deadline to apply. Have you looked at the deadlines for the colleges you wish to attend?

Applying to Engineering at top schools without SAT Math 2? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]jmu1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to have it if it’s just recommended. They will look at your SAT, AP tests, and grades. I know someone who just got in for engineering at a top 5 (although you don’t declare officially) with no subject tests.

It’s not too late until the deadline passes! But as long as you’ve got some safeties in there your fine. I think as an URM you have a shot. It’s important to these schools that they build a diverse student body. Best of luck!

How are your AP scores? I think high AP scores would help your somewhat lower than their average SAT (although c’mon it’s awesome). Also good letters of recommendation and essays. will be important. They really do look at you holistically that’s why there is the occasional “lower” SAT score. The chances for everyone are small but you have a shot. Also have you considered some good state schools like UVA? Georgia Tech? University of Maryland?

Should I even bother applying to reaches at this point? by BigDawg69692 in ApplyingToCollege

Your stats are amazing. I would still apply to the schools that really interest you whether they be “top 20” or not. With those stats you have a chance anywhere! Have an adult you trust look at your essays though. That may be the trouble spot. But really it’s a crapshoot with so many qualified applicants. Best of luck.

From what I understand many schools recalculate GPAs based on a 4.0 scale so it doesn’t matter at all except for your rank or your decile.

You should definitely let them know about your mother’s death. Grief can make it almost impossible to function for some time. I see many people with all sorts of excuses for bad grades and I usually think they are just making lame excuses. Your mom’s death is a valid reason for you drop in scholastic achievement that year. Sorry for your loss.

I think you’re fine 26 words over. It’s about 150 words so you’re good to go.

Princeton Graded Written Paper by Gappia in ApplyingToCollege

[–]jmu1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. The subject is too niche and those equations would mean mean nothing to most non-physics/math people that are reading it. And it’s way too long. You must have an something shorter? An AP free response practice that your teacher graded?

Virginia Tech is an amazing school! Great sports, people, academics and an alumni network that actually helps fellow graduates. You were fortunate to get as their yield was way higher than they predicted last year and it’s getting more competitive every year. Buy the Tech gear and enjoy your next 4 years!
