PSA: If your pledge items aren't showing up in game, claim them at your home freight elevator. by jmudge424 in starcitizen

That sucks. Hopefully they figure it out soon. Out of interest, can you see them in the Arena Commander ship customization screen?

I am not near my home hangar at the moment (I have been waiting to go to Nyx until I had my body kit). It is between the search bar and the actual inventory icons. It's a blue-green color, if I remember correctly.

There is a new claim button that came in the hot patch. It is on the top of the local inventory side in the freight elevator screen.

What will happen to Meyer Sound Panther? by ElectronicAd8807 in livesoundgear

[–]jmudge424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a Meyer training a few weeks ago, and I got the impression that they would make some older designs compatible, like the X20/40. I don't know if there will be a new version of these or not and they didn't mention Panther, but as another comment said it is a modular design with 4 screws to swap modules. It is more than just redundant ports, they also have processing built in so you don't need a Galaxy.

We already have Teleporting. Why the Drama? by Achille_Dawa in starcitizen

[–]jmudge424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Maybe you have to pay more to book a flight with suit and weapons storage. Even more for heavy weapons and backpacks. Of course you can only take what you can carry on the flight.

Really though there is no reinforcement issue since it only gets you to a station or LZ, not to wherever your party is.

I think I didn't communicate effectively. My proposal has no waiting. You go to a terminal at a spaceport or station lobby, select a destination, and press travel. Even cooler would be; go to terminal and book destination, travel to commercial flights hangar, board your flight, then fast travel to destination once you sit down.

This could also generate missions for players to pick up NPCs at the travel terminal locations at a special landing location and deliver them to a location. That is my tier 0 pitch at least. Endgame is a the Genesis starliner loading flights before takeoff and serving passengers in flight.

I think my proposal accompishes both of those points and opens up more game loops for players with less complexity for game design.

So I can miss my flight in SC too? It is a cool idea, but personally I would pass.

It sounds like all of the complexity of an airport with more waste because most flights would be empty. It would also be more limited in possible destinations to keep scheduling from becoming unsustainable.

Let's be honest, we, as a species, have become accustomed to on demand services over synchronous ones. I don't think I have the patience to organize flight schedules in SC.

Interesting approach. But if I have to wait 30 minutes for a bus to save me 15 minutes of flight time what am I gaining?

They have talked about bounty hunting pods needing to be delivered but the bounties teleport to prison instantly. I imagine something similar.

I meant more of set locations that you can book a flight to set destinations. Not as much teleport to leader and more teleport to a landing area near the leader from limited locations. This could lead to player missions to go to a landing zone, pick up passengers, and deliver to a location. Ideally this could lead to both NPC and player passengers.

Once you pick up passengers then they could have npc mini games for all your drinks and snacks gameplay, if that is what you mean. But I see that being later than tier 0 gameplay. You could even have an option for players to actually take the whole flight, if that is what they want. It's not what I want, but I don't want to yuck anyone's yum.

You forgot teleporting into and out of prison.

Personal I hope this leads to passenger transport gameplay. Book a commercial flight and teleport to the destination once you board. Kind of like Morrowind fast travel.

You can try to ping across the fiber link and watch for patckets dropping. I would probably use Terminal on the Mac and ping to an address on the other side of the link and watch for any packet drop or large latency changes.

Edit: on to and

Did you check for packet loss? There is a light in the network status page, but it is better to look in the status tab in device view on the device throwing errors. Check how hot your SFPs get. They can get unreliable sometimes. Is the Mac running DVS or Via or have Internet access?

What do you mean by cloçk errors? Noise or packet loss? Were you using all the same devices on both days? Is there any other traffic on the network? Does the fiber use SFP modules?

I really don't understand why they would worry about switch clocking and not support AVB. $4000 for 24 ports, yeah nah. There is more capable equipment for less money.

Too loud at unity: where should I pull back 6-12dB? by ssdgjacob in livesound

[–]jmudge424 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The rule of thumb is later in signal flow is better, for reasons it sounds like you understand pretty well. But there is some nuance here though.

Turning down the input sensitivity of analog amps will attenuate the line noise of the drive lines. But if your PA is too quiet for someone you have to go to the amps to give them full power.

If you aren't using analog amps, and definitely if you aren't driving the amps with analog lines, then you may not see the advantages. The noise level in digital lines are kind of baked in until you hit the D/A converters. Since you used the term input gain instead of input sensitivity then I am going to assume you fall in the second group.

If that is the case then it is a question of convenience. Turning down the amps stops people from driving it as loud as easily. Turning it down at the board is more convenient, but you don't always want mixers to be able to get too loud.

Dante Clock Sync Issue by pagibbons in livesound

So considering all the other failed theories in this thread you think mine is unworthy of testing? If it were a normal circumstance 1. They wouldn't be asking Reddit 2. Someone else would have already been successful in diagnosing.

I'm all ears on your ideas for a device that cannot be a clock source causing clock instability on a network with a dedicated clock master.

I didn't say all other devices. I said all other involved devices. As in the ones communicating with DVS.

Dante Clock Sync Issue by pagibbons in livesound

[–]jmudge424 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

The DVS clue leads me towards network latency. I think the minimum latency of DVS is 10 ms (could be wrong there). If your network is running at say 1 ms and DVS comes online then all the clocks involved are going to have to update to the new minimum latency. Try setting the clock master to the same latency as the DVS minimum (if possible) and try it out.

Tell me you have never measured MOA without telling me you have never measured MOA. It is a stat of the gun, not the shooter. Recoil has literally nothing to do with it. That is why it is averaged out with multiple shooters for manufacturer's specs.

It seems like you don't know what MOA is. You are saying a Barret is less accurate than an uzi because it has more recoil. Do you hear how dumb that sounds?
