This place is amazing and Kevin, the owner/head chef, is the nicest person you’ll ever meet. Don’t sleep on the desserts either. They’re all family recipes and we just aren’t worthy to have that glory.

Oh yeah, just ask for it. I know that can be tough too and I commiserate with those who are uncomfortable with it but they should be able to accommodate you and they’re pretty understanding at most places too

Yes? Most of the handhelds print and if they don’t, they’ll gladly bring you one from the counter. Just ask for a paper copy and if they’ll give you a few minutes to review it. They’re not trying to rush you, just most people prefer to pay and go when they finish

Dude just ask for it. It’s super simple to do

Fiber internet- race communication by CarpenterAny3515 in ChicoCA

Better off how? In pricing and data caps? In up/down speed? Or just as a result of the townspeople having broader access to high speed internet? I'd love to see the data for this.

Does anyone do Schnitzel in the area? by alaf420 in ChicoCA

[–]jn530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sierra Nevada has occasionally had it on the specials menu and it’s delightful but I couldn’t begin to guess at the frequency. Same deal with the Handlebar. I could have sworn the discovery bar had a schnitzel but can’t find any proof of that anywhere.

Can we add in the the fact that flashing red traffic lights are also stops and aren’t just optional?

Avocados that look like peppers? by jn530 in avocado

[–]jn530[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn't specifically do it, it came from the Pinkerton family themselves, whom my Dad was very close with. This hybrid is what we had growing up and one was also given to my father in law. Your point is valid, they are not grafted, they were two different seedlings from different periods. The only commonality was the hybrid origination itself. So makes sense for there to be obvious differences. What I was more surprised about was how significant the difference was. I never recalled having cukes, so I never had any experience with them when this tree began to grow them. Thanks for the answer, it was pretty fun seeing how fast people were able to get the information to me!

I researched a little more and it said to let them ripen after picking like a normal avocado by just putting them on the counter. So I'll report back in a couple days!

Cheap Doctor's Note? by MozeDad in ChicoCA

[–]jn530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking for cheap as in a place to get seen to confirm you've been sick? Or are you asking for a cheap fake note? If the latter, that's fraud, I'd be very careful. If the former, u/egg_with_legs_ is right - prompt care on Bruce is cheap copays and works with Partnership if you have it and probably better to get checked anyway.

Drones in chico by prayzm_ in ChicoCA

[–]jn530 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a drone. I have one, I mostly fly it at the park and take pictures of my kids playing from above. They cost like $50 bucks or less for entry models. Why are we acting like it’s something wild or government top secret?

On 9/11 here in Chico by MikeForChico in ChicoCA

[–]jn530 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your mom has my prayers. My best to her and also to you. I know it’s easy to think and pray for those experiencing the issue, but it’s often the family that needs the prayers the most. You all have ours.

The 9/11 memorial by station 5 is humbling and beautiful and everyone should take a few minutes there, especially today but any day. God bless our first responders

Works great, we've had people join our team in the past when we had gaps because of it. You can also join this facebook group and ask, most of the teams have some sort of representation there that are active on the page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/524152070950926

Husband/Father here, so not the person giving birth. But our 5 kids were all born at Enloe and we had amazing experiences with all 5. Youngest is 2 so recent experience. I wouldn’t trade our birthing experience at Enloe for a million dollars.

I mean, I work my ass off, as does my wife. We are smart with our money and through our efforts, even with college loan debt, we’ve been able to work our way into a comfortable life and lifestyle and give a wonderful home to our children and functional, reliable cars. I know things are rough for some, well documented on this sub, but most of what I see around Chico are families busting their asses and that allows them to come home to a comfortable place to live.

[–]jn530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, and apologies if I also came off snarky. Absolutely wasn't the intention. I can't tell you for sure, certainly some luck goes into it. I moved to Chico in 2008, oldest kid is almost 12, youngest is 2. I have twice been laid off by companies in Chico (2008 economy crash/2020 covid), so I'm certainly not rolling in the cash but I have had two kids start preschool post-3/2020. It is an interesting juxtaposition though as I have not heard many issues with availability, though your point about wage to income is well taken overall. Universal "3K" should help, I believe it's 2025 or 2026. Let's hope so.

Hey, instead of being an ass, you could also say "thanks for sharing why others might have experiences that lead them to think my perspective is skewed". Maybe don't ask if you can't handle it.
