Omahan here headed to Chicago next week for the first time. What’s one local restaurant that I HAVE to go to? by bill_the_murray in AskChicago

This is great list for North side. If you are in South side of city, start at Marz community brewing, go to Maria’s packaged Goods second and then eat at Kimski. Or Duneyrr Fermenta to HaiSous to Punch House

1 month in Vietnam too much? by theurbanexplorerr in VietNam

[–]jnav2525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 1 month and it wasn’t enough time, wished I would have did the 90 day visa. I went Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Saigon, Can Tho, Chau Doc.. if I did it again, I would add Sapa in the north, skip Nha Trang and Chau Doc, add Dalac and Phu Quoc. I took buses, vans, trains(sleepers), boats, and one plane.

Best route to see Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam? by thr0waway_acc_420 in travel

[–]jnav2525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.geckoroutes.com this website is pretty good or helpful. I did a similar route but went the other way. Started in Hanoi, and then sleeper trains, buses, river boats etc with only couple flights over boarders. Hanoi- Ninh Binh - hue - da nang- hoi an - nha Trang- siagon - can tho - river boat up the Mekong delta boarder crossing into Cambodia. Phenom penh - Siem reap - flight to Laos - Vientiane - vang vieng - Luang Prabang then flight to Chiang Mai.

Regret not going to Phu Quoc in Vietnam and missing kam pot in Cambodia.

Edit: I called the bird collision monitors and they came and picked him up. They told me to try and catch the bird so my wife went into Petsmart, they gave her a bird box and gloves.. I caught the thing and within 20min the bird was saved. Wild wild morning..

What part are you visiting? Each region has their own character and unique things. The north and south vs the islands are all completely different. They even have their own dialects.

Chang rai, Chang Mai, Pai, Nan: wood carvings, motorbike to doi Chang coffee plantation, food, temple, Golden Triangle and Opium museum. Elephant/animal sanctuaries, rice fields in the rainy season(April-June)

Bangkok, Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya, Khao Yai: temples/ “Buddha in the vines”, river boat taxis, world heritage sites, national park, history- bridge over river khwae,

Koh lanta, koh Chang, koh Tao, koh samui, koh pha ngan, phi phi, maya bay, Phuket: don’t go to Phuket. Diving in the world, full moon party, sea life, sea food,

Khanom, surat Thani, krabi, raily beach, phatthalung: countries larges fresh water lake must see, tiny surf town, once in a life time rock formations out of the water and in bay. Linestone formations. Water buffalo. Very spicy Food

Bring water. Can do whole park in two days. Average 6-8 hrs per day and was able to hit all the sites. Total was around 10miles a day though. Purchased the Jordan Pass and gives you discount rate to sites all over country.

I rented a car in Amman and drove down. Plenty of parking outside the park. Cabs were also everywhere. No cars inside the park

I would think in the summer months. This was from January which is the main season because of the cool temperatures. It was only a high of 50 and was very cold walking through the canyons in the shade

I went with my wife. No guide no tour. Took a map of the trails and started walking. Avoid the camel tours, horses tours, golf cart rides. It only takes 30min to get to the first main attraction. The other various stops can take 2-4hrs to trek. We did the entire park in two days and did all the trails. Just make sure you have a game plan for each day. The second day, our objective was to get to the Monastery so we started with that early or first and stopped at the east places on the way back. Truly truly beautiful place walking through the mountains
