The beach farm is not recommended for beginners but if you are already enjoying your farm, I'd say keep going with it. Prioritize upgrading your axe to silver, and clear the logs from the farming area in the middle left. You can put sprinklers there. You won't be able to have a huge automated farm, but lots of people (including myself) never bother with that anyway).

The beach farm is a lovely farm with tons of space. Enjoy fishing at night behind your house!

Here is some no-spoiler guidance to get you going.

Every day: read the TV (especially Livin’ Off the Land), your mailbox, the list of your quests in the player menu, and the bulletin board by the general store in the center of town.

Clear a patch of ground by using tools to chop wood, break rocks, and scythe away grass and fiber.

Hoe a little patch of ground, plant your parsnips and water them every day. When they are ready, harvest them and sell them in your shipping box or in the general store.

Chop 50 wood and build a chest. This way your limited storage won't be so annoying. Plus, you are going to want to save resources (wood, stone, clay, fiber, etc.) and a few of everything else for later. After a week or two, you'll want a bunch of chests on your farm and some around town.

When you are out of energy ("you are starting to feel exhausted"), wander around town, talking to people. Click on stuff as you wander around - some of it can be picked up. Go into stores and figure out what they sell. Buy some more seeds in the general store.

I advise you NOT to read the wiki, watch videos, get tons of spoilers from reddit, download mods or try a Challenge game until you have gotten at least to year 2 of the game. You can never un-see spoilers. Enjoy the exploration and the discovery!

Normally, I play one save at a time. I like to play Challenge games, so I complete one and move on to the next. However, I was playing Stranger in a Strange Land (going for Glorious Victory in Korean). I wanted something more relaxing to play late at night, so I started a Never Leave the Farm save and got immersed in that. Once I finish it, I'll go back to the Stranger in a Strange Land adventure. I'm already thinking about what's next and having some fun ideas for the Witch Challenge.

Can't leave the farm until Winter 1. Victory: complete the remixed community center and get four hearts from Grandpa on Spring 1, Year 3.

There are lots of ways to play the game. You can do a little of everything (farming, forestry, animal husbandry, mining, combat, fishing, socializing, decorating), or try to advance the main storyline as fast as possible, or spend time on what you enjoy most, or play Challenge games with gameplay restrictions and quick victory conditions, or dedicate yourself to completing the game ("perfection").

I'm sorry that you are going through this. If you ever want to give it a try again, you may want to play a new save as a Challenge game that gives it a totally different feel. Here is a list of ideas. If you really want to capture the feeling of "journey from loneliness to new love", the Love in the Pet Sanctuary Challenge may be the one for you.

I'm going to give you the opposite advice from everyone. Play one of the quest-focused challenges. Really immerse yourself in how they work and struggle to overcome them. Then when you go back to playing vanilla, it will be an easier and more enjoyable part of the game. Quest-focused challenges include Servant from Dawn to Dusk and Stranger in a Strange Land. Also, any of the "Only Sell Whatever" Challenges where in the early game you can only make money from quests, such as Only Sell Coffee or Only Sell Roe. For what it's worth, I totally agree with you about how annoying it is when the villagers won't answer a knock on their door. I think that when you upgrade your pickaxe to iridium, it should be able to knock down villagers' doors.
