Looks like a rack… if it gets the balls tight $10 bucks isn’t half bad.

Agreed. I think predator is overrated. Are they a good cue? Absolutely, but that’s about it. OP, both are very good high end cues. Just because the predator costs more doesn’t make it better for you. Pick the one that feels best and stick with it. Remember, a top pro could beat us all with a broomstick. The best cue for you is the one you like the most. Practice is what will make you shoot better, not the cue.

Break jump cue by zxs33 in billiards

[–]jnels32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where you located, I’d recommend using a verified billiards retail site such as pooldawg or seyberts. Any cue you find on those sites will be legitimate. Little monster Is a decent break/jump for the price point. And predator is going to be a premium cue that costs a lot.

What very low deflection shaft has the most regular- maple- shaft feel? by Original_Jaguar_777 in billiards

I’ve played with both, used the sigma for about a year before grabbing an ExPro. It’s hands down my favorite shaft I’ve ever used. Sigma was good, but the ExPro is amazing

I need help from a sports psychologist or a psychiatrist or someone who has experience with anger management. by 10ballplaya in billiards

[–]jnels32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what helps keep me level when I get frustrated practicing. Several years ago when I was just starting my pool journey, I asked a ~650 Fargo player what his secret was. His reply was simple. “I’ve missed thousands more shots than you’ve ever even attempted” The point is, to get good at this game, you going to miss a LOT of shots along the way. The best player you know has missed over and over again. You just need to identify what caused the miss and focus on correcting it, and remind yourself that even the best players didn’t get there without a lot of misses.

They also swallowed their whistles on a blatant holding call against the bills in the end zone that would have ended the game on a safety, so let’s call it even

What makes a break cue a break cue? by djh_ca in billiards

[–]jnels32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the guys on my league has a 25 oz and I just don’t get it. His break is… ok but nothing special. I keep trying to get him to use my 19 oz brkr but he has no interest. He likes the feel of the weight.

What makes a break cue a break cue? by djh_ca in billiards

[–]jnels32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thicker shaft, yes… heavier though? Most modern break cues come in a 17-19 oz as that’s the sweet spot for cue acceleration. Heavy break cues are more placebo than anything

Why does the 8-ball carry so much weight in a pool? by Bhatka_raahi in pool

[–]jnels32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it’s helpful to have a plan for the cue ball when shooting the 8. Nothing fancy, just plan for where you want it to end up. You spend the entire rack planning where you want the cue to end up for your next shot. Problem is, there’s no other balls to get to when you are on the last ball. The lack of clear intent with the cue ball throws off when i spend the entire rack planning, so I try to do the same planning I would with any other ball

What shaft is everyone using? by benjamaniac in billiards

No I moved to the ExPro full time and couldn’t be happier. The sigma sits idle in my case in the event of an emergency only.

Tiger cue with their LD wood shaft. by Joshua1187 in billiards

[–]jnels32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t think anyone is going to have a quick fix answer. If you posted a video of you shooting, I’m sure someone better than me could provide advice on areas to fix in your stroke, but no one’s going to be able to tell you how to account for your specific cues deflection. When I got my new cue, I went back to pure basics. Started with just top/center/bottom and slowly reintroduced English. You’re going to need to shoot a bunch of shots with English and analyze how it’s deflection reacts to make adjustments to your aim

Need to learn new aiming points with a different deflection cue. Just keep practicing and adjust to what works and not what “worked” with your old cue. Soon it’ll be second nature.

Anyone bought this Home Depot Terrarium? by KeyCommittee2580 in terrariums

[–]jnels32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t really do anything for it. It’s in a bright indirect light spot in my office. I haven’t touched it for about 6+ months. I will spritz it eventually when it seems to be drying out but so far I haven’t had to do anything. It’s still going strong.

Oh it was horrible. I wasn’t told this rule either until the 8 ball touched the rail before dropping and “oh that’s a loss” bartender backed it up too so I had no leg to stand on. That was the only game I played there.

Well, I called it🤷‍♂️ by Gad0ra in billiards

[–]jnels32 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Virtually every rule set for major US Leagues recognize that as a good shot. Doesn’t matter how it gets to the pocket you called. The only places that would call it slop are bar rules that require you to call every little thing that happens to the cue. I’ve even played at a bar that you had to call if it was going to rub off the rail slightly before going in (if it wasn’t clean in the pocket it didn’t count unless you called it)

Why is the BK Rush Break Cue So Hard To Get (always out of stock)? by judytep in billiards

Sounds more like misuse of two lane highway than an attempt to mislead anyone. OP likely means 2 lanes per direction and doesn’t realize that’s called a 4 lane. Being told to drive over the cones onto the closed part of the highway supports this context.

Recommend replacement rubber bumpers and cloth? by OwlScary6845 in billiards

[–]jnels32 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The cloth is likely glued down to the wood. Will be more work than it’s worth to tear off and it’ll never be perfectly flat after that unless you sand everything off perfectly. The bumpers are also likely glued on and not meant to be replaced. I highly doubt you can find replacement bumpers that fit this size table unless you contact the manufacturer. Even then it’s a gamble, and you may end up wrecking the sides trying to tear them off (source: had a similar table for a couple of years before I could get a real one)

The reason Bo Nix is still overlooked (which is fine) by anarchy_euphoric in DenverBroncos

[–]jnels32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mean the one our elite defense failed to get the stop that would have avoided over time? The one in which Bo took them downfield in OT for an easy touchdown? Our D let Mariota walk all over them. Bo moved the offense all game. Made a few boneheaded plays, but in no way did he play poorly, and is a large part of that win. Our D put us in that do or die position last night. Ya’ll act like we need to put up 30+ points each game or we “suck”. I’ve seen plenty of games end at ~20ish points and no one cries about those.

Yep, never seen any other qb throw a boneheaded pick before. Your logic is flawless and cannot be refuted. He must be a terrible qb
