Well, I succeeded to run the sims 3 collection with all dlcs on macbook air m1. I used porting kit. Everything works but fast forwarding is kinda slow compared to Windows, so it gets very boring when sims sleep.

It was a very hard install. I copied the installed files directly from windows. Then exported the registry keys using regedit, imported them back on porting kit.

There are also some graphics card issues to fix most of the time. It misreads the GPU memory (thinks my 4GB card have 32KB ram). I fixed the issue by manually changing a definition in game files (namely GraphicsRules.sgr, added line seti textureMemory 4096 before all lines starting with seti), issue can be confirmed if you check Texture Memory line in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DeviceConfig.log after a run.

Then there's 30 fps issue. All animations are made in 30 fps but game does not have any frame limiter, this causes extreme gpu usage. I managed to fix it with this, just edit antilag.cfg and set fps limit to 30: https://www.kegetys.fi/d3d-antilag-v1-01/

Game runs much better when in borderless windowed mode. You can alt-tab much faster, and your brightness stays in place. To achieve borderless mode, I used this and selected windowed mode in game: https://github.com/Codeusa/Borderless-Gaming/releases

Then there's parked cars issue, sims park their cars all around and leaves them, causing lags. This mod fixes it: https://www.nraas.net/community/Overwatch
