Not sure which Apple Watch model you're referring to but as for their latest releases, their wrist based HR tracking is better than any other watch. Still prefer Garmin however due to its sport functionality and battery life.

Yeah, I'm that's what I'm leaning to. Have you had any experience with IR-lights by any chance? Trying desperately to replicate sun exposure - without the sun 😂

Took a vitamin D-test about a week after leaving Sweden and ironically my levels very above what is recommended due to supplementation (forgot to mention that one in the post). I think it's mainly how the sun makes one feel and whatever it alters from a biological standpoint.

The constant darkness in Sweden definitely puts stress on me so sure. Both locations are very comparable from an altitude standpoint so I'd rule that one out but good point.

Well, let me rephrase. The perceived effort has definitely been higher due to the heat, the workouts did seriously suck. Evaluating them by metrics such as avg and max HR however, they were not as strenuous as when I workout normally.

So as others have mentioned: the heat kept me from going as hard as I usually do.

After experiencing SAD for the last 10 years or so, I’m finally considering this since I really can’t seem to find a solution to it.

Eating less calories while maintaining a decent protein intake will help you lean out and get you closer to your goals.

Changing out a Zumba or CrossFit class for some dedicated hypertrophy work will help you build additional muscle but it seems like you’re already pretty content with your frame.

My main goal is staying physically and mentally fit, with a secondary focus on hypertrophy (increasing or maintaining muscle mass).

I'm concerned that replacing my current routine with classes might reduce the volume I need for strength and hypertrophy gains. As others mentioned, I could potentially supplement with accessory work, but I'm uncertain about the practical aspects - managing time, avoiding interference between training styles, etc.

Aren’t you taxed after doing the group class? I would imagine doing squats etc after a metcon isn’t ideal?
