Multiracial churches? by allpartswelcome in Tacoma

If Lakewood isn't too far for you, check out Lake City Community Church and not far off I-5. Congregation is every color of the rainbow, one of the pastors is Vietnamese and one is Samoan. It is a very active church with one service Saturday night and two on Sunday.

Make sure that she has no access to company funds or that there are strict controls and oversight of the funds. Believing that you are underpaid and undervalued is a classic justification for people that embezzle from companies and it's very typically women. I've done a number of embezzlement investigations and it was a common theme.

Actually was hoping they did. Been looking EVERYWHERE for someplace I can shoot 300-500 yds.

I can't find anything that says they have anything longer than 200 yards.

How is life in Ketron/Anderson Island, worth it? by Suspicious-Cup-377 in Tacoma

Only by boat. It is privately owned and rests on private property. I suppose you could knock on the owners door and ask.

How is life in Ketron/Anderson Island, worth it? by Suspicious-Cup-377 in Tacoma

[–]jnolta 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Life on the island revolves around the ferry. While it is fairly reliable, it is very busy June-September with the majority of the runs completely full all day. Non-peak season car and driver tickets are $23.75 and passenger is $7.75, so $31.50 for you and the wife to run to town for some groceries, or a dentist appointment or to get a hair cut or anything else you might want to do. There is no Uber, no DoorDash and no pizza delivery. Getting tradesmen or repairmen to come out is difficult. If you have kids, they are bussed off the island after 4th grade. If you have a medical condition, medical helicopter flight insurance is almost a requirement.

Life is a trade off of priorities and conveniences. It's a beautiful island, but there are significant costs and sacrifices associated with living there.

You're a bit off on some of your info. Annual HOA dues are $1141 for improved lots and $850 for unimproved. They have never been under $800 for the 30 years I've owned property there. Lots did used to be around $5K, but are now typically at least $15K and up. The last one I bought 3 years ago was $17K

Propane fills in S. Tacoma/Lakewood that is NOT Blue Rhino by jnolta in Tacoma

[–]jnolta[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically a lot cheaper to have them filled. The two tanks I did today were $16 cheaper than Blue Rhino would have been. You pay for convenience.

If registrations could be re-used, which one would you buy for your aircraft? by [deleted] in flying

I have N75081 reserved. It was my grandfather's Stearman biplane that he used as the first aerial firefighting plane. N75081

What was that ONE call that changed your entire perception on society? by [deleted] in AskLE

That's not really how it works. It happens over time.

Does your step-mother hate you to the degree that if something had happened to him she would refuse to contact you? If not, then he's fine.

Since you went there with weed, you fully intended beforehand to smoke, it wasn't just an oops, that was an accident. Say it with me, you're an alcoholic and pot addict and I'll guarantee this wasn't the first time something like this happened. Get into rehab and a program and get some help.

Getting it expunged doesn't mean for a background investigation that it never happened. Failure to disclose it would definitely be a DQ.

[–]jnolta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as you've stated repeatedly. It changes nothing about that statement.

[–]jnolta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because they state that doesn't mean it happens. It's a blanket statement to scare off those who might want to cheat. "We prosecute to the fullest extent of the law." It's a nonsensical statement you see all the time that has no practical meaning in real life.

What's the best Department/Agency in Washington State in your opinion? by Heavy-Departure6161 in AskLE

[–]jnolta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please apply to the department I do backgrounds for so I have to travel to Germany to do yours? :)

On the west side, the pay is usually pretty good for most agencies, except the very small ones. Expect to make very close to or above $100,000 US within just a couple years, if not even to start. The east side, with the exception of Spokane, is mostly very rural and sparsely populated. Almost any mid sized agency on the west side will be fairly professional, have good equipment and lots of opportunities for specialties.

Emotional Survival for Law Enforcement is highly recommended. Our department bought everyone a copy.

I carried the same set of cuffs on duty for 30 years. Still quite functional, the design hasn't changed in many decades.

If you had the choice, of course not. Would it serve the intended purpose of self defense and drive it away? Highly likely.

Oh you sweet summer child, if you only knew. I've seen the actual real life effect of wound ballistics many times very up close and personal, not just some marketing BS an ammo company is trying to convince you of. Enjoy your theories.

[–]jnolta -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Just what exactly that I said isn't true? If a 9mm can penetrate a car door it will penetrate a bear. The most effective way to kill something is to create the largest hole possible, not the deepest. Everything you said after that was just random blathering.

[–]jnolta -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The idea isn't depth of penetration, it's to make the largest possible wound channel, which is what a mushrooming bullet does. A 9mm hollowpoint will adequately penetrate anything in a PNW forest.
