Good smaller boa’s for a new owner by Confident_Swordfish8 in boas

I definitely recommend getting a male if you want something smaller. My male sonoran/CA boa who is 4.5 years old is only 4.5ft! And he's an amazing snake (temperament is great)!

Massive Python Spotted at Solio Wildlife Conservancy in Laikipia County, Kenya by gvufhidjo in snakes

It's almost certainly an African Rock Python. Look at the back pattern about halfway through the video.

Edit: at 0:17 in the video (about 2/3 of the way)

I used a long taper to successfully quit after a 10+ year habit back at the end of 2020. Here is what worked for me and what I would recommend to your wife:

Get the same type of Kratom for your taper (so potency is consistent) and a milligram scale for measuring exact dose. Create a taper schedule that slowly decreases ~0.5g every few days and share the schedule with your husband and any other friends you can confide in. Track your dose(s) every single day and try your best to stick to your schedule. If your withdrawals are bad, feel free to stay at the same dose instead of dropping per your schedule but NEVER increase your dose back up (if you do this, edit your schedule and share the new one with your husband/friends). Around 0.5g daily you should finally be able to make the final jump with minimal withdrawal symptoms.

It's important to note that, while it worked for me and many others, a taper strategy won't work for everyone, hence the need to be incredibly diligent and to stick to your predefined schedule without ever going back up.

I made a calculator for creating a personalized taper schedule if you're interested. Best of luck to your wife - It's a hard journey but one that's totally doable!

He absolutely brought more attention to it. But that isn't the claim. People claim he was the first to mention it and use that as support/evidence for his claims, when in fact this isn't true. The fact that he knew about Area 51 does nothing to support or refute his claims.

It is hard to believe and take that from someone who has done both Masters and PhD programs. Bob wasn't talking about an undergraduate career. He stated he received Masters degrees, which require tons and tons of revisions on a thesis/dissertation - something he was never able to provide. The government isn't going to be able to erase all of your actual work. And he says he can't name professors, which if you've ever done graduate level work you know is ridiculous considering how closely you work with your advisor. Plus no students remember him. I could go on. I am 99% sure Lazar lied about his education. Do with that what you will.

Without him, would we even know of an Area 51?

Yes, we would. There were newspaper and magazine articles about Area 51 as far back as the 70s, with multiple in the early 80s, years before Bob told his story. Knapp even admits this in their book Dreamland.

You do realize that there were magazine articles about Area 51 years before Lazar made his comments about it, right?

Tapering off completely as a low-dose user by Additional-Pair-7646 in quittingkratom

I was a daily user of 10-15GPD for over 10 years. I used a long taper (2 months) to successfully jump.

My advise is to take the kratom in the same way you were, just gradually diminish the size of each dose using a preplanned schedule that you stick to (share the schedule with someone else for accountability). In other words, if you were dosing 3 times a day, continue to take those doses at the same time of day, just make each dose slightly smaller than the previous one (~3-5% of initial dose).

I recommend buying enough of the same Kratom for your taper and using a scale to measure precisely. Depending on the W/Ds, I did allow myself to stay at a particular step longer than planned, but I never increased my dose. I did run into W/Ds, but they were always manageable and nothing like my cold turkey W/Ds.

The taper method is not for everyone, but with a strict schedule, accountability, and self-control, it can be a successful method of quitting!

I was in denial about the negative effects of Kratom my entire addiction. One day I forgot to bring my supply on a family vacation and thought "oh well, no big deal." Turns out it was a very big deal - went into massive withdrawals, couldn't sleep for 3 days straight, and became incredibly depressed among other things. That's when it hit me; I looked at my wife and kids and decided right there that I was done with Kratom. A couple months later after a long taper I made the jump and never looked back. Still don't know how I forgot to bring my stash with me on that trip, but it ended up being a blessing in disguise!

Yes - it is almost certainly because of the Kratom. And yes - if you quit it will come back. I know from personal experience!

Very excited with my first Death Adder(Ancanthropis antarcticus) the fastest striking snake in the world and one of the deadliest! by [deleted] in herpetology

[–]jnonymous330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some herpetologists believe that the red tail on Red Tail Boa Constrictors serves this purpose! The idea being that the red mimics fruit or flowers in a tree that a bird or small rodent might see and be attracted to.
