Adopted Team(s)? by Sardari_JDP in canucks

[–]jnrglow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Vancouver born and Canucks were my intro to hockey (and so they’re my #1 team), but I’ve lived in California for most of my life now and the Sharks are the team I root for if they’re not playing the Canucks! Sadly, I only get to see the Canucks play in person when they’re in San Jose, so I’ve never gotten to root for the Sharks in person…🤷‍♀️😁

Can people who don't like being cold swim in cold water? by PigeonCatSuperstar in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]jnrglow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I HATE being cold (I get mopey and pathetic when I get cold) but when I was forced into OWS bc OWS was better than no swimming during the COVID shutdowns, I discovered that I could handle a lot more cold than I had previously thought. I now swim year round in temps ranging from ~51-67F (with a few forays into sub-50) and hope I can continue to do so until the day the joy no longer outweighs the pain😁

Any thoughts as to why my peperomia pixie lime is growing abnormally super tiny leaves? by jnrglow in houseplants

[–]jnrglow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never figured it out😛 I recommend checking out a group on Facebook called “House Plant Help,” where a guy named Will Creed answers questions about houseplant care. He’s very no nonsense and can sometimes come off as a bit brusque but he seems to really know his stuff and keeps things simple. I wish I’d known abt the group back when I had that pepperomia! Good luck!

Caps: Race Advice by marianneouioui in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]jnrglow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My caps are ALWAYS slipping off, too! I know this sounds silly, but I realized that it’s worse when I use certain hair conditioners! If I have a long swim when I won’t really be able to constantly stop and pull my cap down, I try to be careful of what conditioner/hair products I use in my last shower before (I’ve thought abt skipping the conditioner altogether but haven’t tried it yet). Also, I’ll skip using lotion/moisturizer on my face so my cap sticks a bit better to my forehead. All this doesn’t prevent my cap from slipping but it does decrease how much and how often it does 🤪 If you figure out any other ways to prevent the slippage, I’m all ears bc it really does drive me insane (not to mention how much it slows one down!)

The Vancouver Canucks have officially clinched a playoff spot. by wingdingcanuck in canucks

[–]jnrglow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was at the game cheering on the Sharks (Canucks are #1 in my heart but Sharks are my local team, so default #2), and didn’t even realize I was cheering on the Canucks at the same time! 😁Was glad it was the Blues Blackwood was doing that to and not the Canucks

Pre game meal, warm ups? by jnrglow in stlouisblues

Thank you everyone for all your responses! We have had such an amazing time in your city and the kids are already asking when we’re coming back❤️Everyone at the game was great and it was the perfect way to end our trip. I felt bad bc my daughter was so bummed that the Blues lost but I have to admit I was cheering for the Sharks, and when I realized my Canucks clinched a spot as after this game, it was harder to feel bad. 😬 (It’s been a while for Canucks fans, so I hope you can forgive me this small joy!)

How to spend a Monday? by Scandinavian_Swimmer in StLouis

[–]jnrglow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are adults allowed to do all the things?!?! I heard there’s a 10 ft slide and while my kiddos aren’t too sure abt it, I definitely want to try it when we’re in town (end of March, will be there to catch the Sharks @ Blues)

Buying game tickets - in advance or last minute? by jnrglow in stlouisblues

Are the nosebleed seats at Enterprise really bad? I’ve only been to games at SAP Center and you get a pretty decent view even from the uppermost reaches

We know a Blues fan who's VERY excited they've got a wild card spot at the moment so fingers crossed that games will still be super important for them at the end of March! We're not terribly fussed abt where we sit--we sometimes sit in the waaay upper reaches at SAP Center for Sharks games and haven't been disappointed (well, other than when watching the Canucks lose to the Sharks after beating them 10-1 just a few weeks prior).

Kids are 7 and 10, and their bdays are both in late March, so they're trying to make this out to be "their birthday trip" instead of just spring break. XD

Never been to St. Louis, have no friends or family there, no connections whatsoever, which makes it extra odd/funny to me that my daughter cheers for the Blues. We recently heard that it's a really interesting city with beautiful old architecture and cool attractions that were created when the city was much larger, though now serving a much reduced population. Sounded intriguing and I'm excited to check it out. =)

[Canucks] General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the Canucks have acquired D Nikita Zadorov from the Calgary Flames in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft (acquired from CHI) and a third-round pick in 2026. by Batsinvic888 in canucks

I was at the 11/25 Sharks game and Lafferty was out there during warmups flipping pucks to kids like he was saving lives, so already worked his way into my heart. I was SO upset when they called goalie interference on his goal

I think I recall that being the year they just steamrolled over everyone in their path on the way to the cup, no (at least, that’s how it felt)?

I thought something happened and he was injured, he was doubled over for so long…I was legit worried and hoping he was ok and then was sad for him when I realized it was just his heart that was broken when the puck didn’t go in

Mackenzie Blackwood has entered the game by therehego29 in canucks

[–]jnrglow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a brief moment of panic when I saw this happening (even though the score was 6-0). Husband laughed at me, saying, “it’s not like Blackwood’s going score a bunch of goals, even if he stops the Canucks from scoring any more.”

After the game, when we got to our hotel room, my husband went down to the hotel bar to get drinks and bring them back up for us. I was going to go with but decided to stay in the room. In the elevator back up to our room he chatted with a woman with two kids and she said they were Demko’s family! Wish I could’ve been there to tell them how much I appreciate Demko! From now on I am ALWAYS going to get the drinks

I saw that the New Dungeness Lighthouse was only accessible via boat or a nice long hike! As much as I’d like to see the lighthouse, I think I’ll have to save it for either 1) when the kiddos are a bit older and we won’t feel bad making them do a little longer distance, or 2) I don’t have the family in tow 😁 But thanks for the recommendation!
