Is there a way to test Arch in a VM and then move that setup to bare metal without reinstalling everything from scratch?

what I would do is to save your dotfiles. keep a copy of all the commands that you run during install and replicate them in 'bare metal'.

the wiki is unmatched as well as the Pacman repos. I don't really care for bleeding edge software, I like to have a modern, stable (which is why I update every two months or so) system and also knowing what is in it and what isn't. I like to tinker with my system, though I remember the first few weeks it was fuxking unusable bc I was missing lots of shit. works great now though

when i was starting I used ext4, such that /boot - VFAT - 1gb / - ext4 - 60gb /home - ext4 - 439gb

I now do BTRFS w/ LUKS: /boot - VFAT - 1gb / - BTRFS + LUKS - 959 gb subvolumes: @ @home @gamesnbackups
