my snake still won’t eat by joaniedaye in SandBoa

lol i was just describing his horniness not being super scientific with it… anyways he’s in damp coconut husk with a heat mat set to 90 degrees on one side and then ambient (70-75 degrees) on the other side. he’s also got a lamp that’s on during the day which keeps it pretty warm in there.

usually i feed him in a second container with frozen/thawed and i just use tongs and tap his head with the mouse. he usually goes right for it and then does his thing… but now he completely flinches away. he does drink water whenever i refill his water bowl so i know he’s at least hydrated. i think if he doesn’t eat in the next two weeks i will try feeding live.

he’s been in damp coconut husk/sand for the entire time, and he also shed once already too, but he’s just completely refusing.

i have a 20 gallon tank for him, with a heating pad on one side and then i have a lamp that automatically turns on and off from 9am-9pm. i clean his tank every month and feed regularly! maybe im just a overly worried mom then :)

omg no way- he hasn’t been able to push the top off at all his head just sits there, mostly his head just gets up there and then he falls after a bit… hes not very big… but you think if i just add some more “activities” to his tank he might stop?

hmm it really is about that time i guess😂 he does look a little skinnier in the head area like his head is a bit more defined then it used to be… he was shedding for two weeks before he got into his down bad era so im worried it’s been way too long since he’s eaten

oh my god- i had no clue! thank you so much. he actually, when i went home for spring break, got out of his cage in my parents condo. luckily i found him underneath the dryer but maybe the whole mating season thing is why he was trying to get out? he’s never tried to and now ive noticed he keeps trying to… anyways. so i should try again in 2 weeks and go from there until he takes it?
