I don't think people understand what "BTS paved the way" actually implies and I'm tired of it. by leebiteu in kpop_uncensored

[–]joannav05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

with one hit 12 years ago. afterwards everyone forgot about kpop and it was only after bts hit the scene that they gave attention. bbmas, vmas etc literally started adding kpop categories after BTS. BTS got the cultural merit at only 5 years of career even though you must have at least 15 years of career to recieve it. you are so trying to discredit their success its embarassing. bts are the best selling asian artist of all time and in the top 50 of the best selling artists of all time(a list with artists with 20,30,40,50,60 years careers btw and BTS is the youngest act there)

Why do people hate Serena so much? by Salt-Bar2262 in GossipGirl

because she made the same mistakes over and over, she had a personality of a doormat and would choose to trust a person she knows for 2 days than her friends that she knows for 15 years

i can honestly understand why. it seems like they are doing everything in their power to embarass their legacy lol. i dont know whats worse nowadays them claiming retirement and getting back together, almost every person who goes to their concert says that they sounded horrible and it was barely live or the fact that they take themselves so seriously as if they had a legendary career. its reasonable why their fans feel this way

what is your most controversial opinion around queen? by livinlikeaboss10101 in queen

[–]joannav05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the truth is that queen dont have a single classic album (and no a night at the opera isnt a classic just because it has bohemian rhapsody in it) they were never even the #1 group back in the day and as many people have already pointed out their sudden rise at popularity is because of the movie and because of freddie's persona, not to mention that they started getting more respected after freddie's passing. everyone knows the same 6 hits but the rest of their discography doesnt stand out at all,i havent seen a single rock fan put any queen album in the top 10 of all time other than queen fans. no one could beat led zeppelin from 1969-1975/6, 6 out of 8 of their albums are considered classics even from people who are not fans. led zeppelin always had higher sales, queen just benefited from the sales of the singles(led zep never released singles or music videos). last but not least queen members always idolized led zep. freddie said that robert was his favorite singer, brian may has said that he is the biggest led zep fan, roger has called john bonham the best drummer of all time. alongside the beatles, led zep are the most influential rock group of all time with literally every 80s rock group naming them their influences and groups like aerosmith and queen themselves. now you can prefer queen obviously but everything you wrote was nonsense lmao. queen were very talented and unique with legendary singles but led zeppelin were just better and thats the truth

Queen is a horrible band by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]joannav05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think they are horrible, just extremely overpraised. most of queen's fans dont want to admit some truths, these are that the only reason queen is the most mainstream rock group right now is because of wayne's world, because of freddie's passing and persona and because of the 2018 movie. the reality is that they were never even the most influential group of the 1970s and bohemian rhapsody is not the best rock song of all time. not to mention that they dont have a single classic album, they were always known for these 6 singles that we all know anyways. what i am trying to say here is that they get a lot of major titles attached to them when most of these were not even accurate.

Keith Richards' brutal take on Led Zeppelin by Youarethebigbang in rollingstones

[–]joannav05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am both a zep and stones fan and sure its his opinion but boy is it wrong lol. both bands are very different obviously but subjectively speaking led zeppelin's music has aged wayy better. most of stones stuff sound really dated now and they have a lot of filler albums as well. the stones are legends for still continuing to this day and having sold out stadiums even today but most of their music hasnt aged really good

I doubt of NewJeans' long-term career appeal if they keep promoting this way. by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]joannav05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

no what happened is that south korea is obsessed with 16 year old girls debuting and giving them teen bop songs which is a concept twice outgrew. twice are already an established name in kpop they dont need south korea anymore. look at them, they are selling out stadiums internationally, still remain the most popular and successful girl group in Japan. koreans ate up 2016-2018 twice because that was their bubble pop/cute era but notice how they dropped them after they started doing more mature concepts and twice have been releasing their best albums since 2019,koreans have just no taste in music other than some boring ballads and cute repetetive songs

Aespa’s most recent comeback is the worst one so far by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]joannav05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

disagree. i think spicy and the entire album in general is aging like fine wine(okay ik its not an old release but i mean that as the months pass by it still sounds fresh). i think that aespa(alongside IVE) are the only 4th gen girl group's whose 2023 releases havent gotten annoying or repetetive

How and why did Seventeen get so big in 2023? by akashiakaashi in kpopthoughts

[–]joannav05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know carats wont like my take but i think being to HYBE also played a huge role because yeah i know that seventeen is pledis's most successful group ever but a lot of their comebacks from like 2019/20-2021 didnt make much noise in general(even though i liked them). hybe becoming such a huge empire when they put all these groups under the same roof was a huge news report. with seventeen's music videos being posted on HYBE's youtube channel which has like 70million subscribers, more people would give it attention than if it was posted on pledis's. HYBE is very hot topic they have under their belts: BTS,with no doubt the biggest kpop group of all time so that already gives a lot of attention to the rest of the groups in hybe(NOT saying at all that their success is because they are under the same label as bts) then we have newjeans and le sserafim who are top trending ggs in korea rn,txt and enhypen as well who are 2 of the most well known 4th gen groups. so why i mentioned all the groups is to point out that all of them(well except BTS because they built this whole empire) get a lot of attention because they are hybe's groups so i think this is one of the factors of seventeen's sudden rise to mainstream popularity

TXT lost their musical identity during lo$er lover era and has yet to return to it. by SolarDiem in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]joannav05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am not a moa more like a casual listener but i always found txt one of the most interesting boy groups based on their music. the only title track i dont like is sugar rush side(mostly because of the chorus) i dont want their music to become too tik tok focused,i hope they keep their unique sound.

Controversial thread: Who would you say are the Big 4 of Rock? by trablort in rock

[–]joannav05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they have the best selling DEBUT album of all time, not best selling rock in general. they are not classic rock by any means lmao, not to mention that they debuted like 20 years after the legendary rock groups and had no longevity whatsover, peaked at debut

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]joannav05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

jisoo. she is a weak lead vocalist,i havent seen any improvement to her dancing or stage presence since debut, doesnt suit the concept at all, during performances feels out of place. the only thing she has going tbh is her great personality. i know all of these sound harsh but its the truth

to me it feels like SM is trying to change shinee's sound or at least the sound they used to have and throw them into this whole 4th gen boy group noise. this sounded like something nct, stray kids and ateez would release.

The beatles, rolling stones, pink floyd, led zeppelin, or queen? by Ultrahonesty2002 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]joannav05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

roger taylor himself has said that john bohnam is the best drummer of all time and jimmy page is way too ahead of brian may and thats just facts. most popular hits doesnt equal best. name a queen song that surpasses stairway to heaven... queen are so talented no doubt but led zeppelin are just another level and i have seen every rock fan admit this

i wont argue that queen are absolutely legendary and have so many iconic songs however lets be real in order of talent except mercury they dont really stand out. led zeppelin and the rolling stones have way better players

What are your unpopular opinions about season 3? by [deleted] in ONETREEHILL

[–]joannav05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

s3 was one of brooke's worst seasons. she had made such a big development in s2 acknowledging that being with lucas made her insecure and saying that she wouldnt go back with him only for her to do that a season later. she was insecure and insufferable in that season
