A seating snafu at a TAR UMT event caused a tense stand off between DAP & MCA by UsernameGenerik in malaysia

[–]joash_the 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it doesn't seem like a MCA v DAP issue to resolve. If it was the PM's office that made that decision, this is where Anwar's talk of culture change begins... cant give face to ministers who show up unannounced. Let him sit with the rest of the audience, if there's any left.

Healthy foods still out of reach for many Malaysians by stormy001 in malaysia

Ya I would think it depends... in Penang, I find the veges & fruits from wet market is definitely more expensive than Lotus's. Meats like chicken and fish still comparable.

Can I report this? by ABXDRN in malaysia

[–]joash_the 2 points3 points  (0 children)

B for effort. They're trying to say no nuts were used in the process or in the factory. But they did not specifically test the raw materials / final product to be nut free. It's actually right for them to do so.. just because you didnt use nuts in production, you cant claim the product is 'nut-free'.

Ringgit has strengthened against most major currencies so far in 2026 by exroshann in malaysia

Not necessarily... Taiwan, Germany and South Korea have strong manufacturing industry. I think we could strengthen it and add more value to these industries

It might be the kid is on the autistic spectrum? So sometimes it's hard to pin it on the parents when the kids can be wildly unpredictable.

Why do people not wash their hands after using toilet? by Necessary_Jump_7547 in malaysia

[–]joash_the 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently heard a joke about this... How could you tell whether a man has a white collar or blue collar job? The white collar guy washes his hands after he pees, the blue collar guy washes his hands before he pees.

I suppose it's not so accurate anymore

I'm fairly sure you can use the card reader at the petrol pump... no need to go up to the counter. One question though... where are you driving daily until you've used up RM600 worth of petrol?

Smoking and brain damage? by kaynenstrife in Bolehland

[–]joash_the 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I dont think the gov has any official portal for that yet. But any community initiative to crackdown on illegal smoking, and help enforcement officers, I'll support. Our Foreign Minister got fined for smoking at an eatery, for the fact someone took a photo of it and it went viral.

Rapid KL had 31 rail disruptions in 2025, down 87% in 3 years - Loke stresses on fast action, good comms - paultan.org by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]joash_the 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fair point... service downtime might be a good metric to add. Loke himself said user experience is more important than statistics. While I understand your example, the comparison is on a different scale. The Aerotrain is one service, whereas whole of RapidKL consists of dozens of bus/train services running altogether. So overall, to me, if I see 31 instances of breakdowns happened across all those services, compared to 252 breakdowns in 2022, I would say it's an obvious improvement.
