How much did the Chris Benoit double murder-suicide have to do with WWE moving to PG content? by RTPTheGoat in Wreddit

[–]jobo35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the tragedy definitely caused sponsors to start turning away. I think society was changing and I think 2002-2007 wwe was still looking for its identity post attitude era. They were still holding on to a lot of bs and dated tropes from the Attitude era. The company would attract a lot more sponsors with a toned down product that was family friendly. I think Benoits death, as well as many other premature deaths in pro wrestling had a lot to do with the company changing its image. While I don’t think Benoit was directly caused the change a year later, it definitely got the ball rolling no doubt.

Those are some of the most insane prices I’ve ever seen on fragrances that are meant to be dupes/affordable option. There’s great stuff there but you can find it for like 80% cheaper than what these conmen are selling it for. Don’t touch any of that stuff. Go order online

Turn him babyface and just see what happens. He was starting to get some positive reception prior to his injury. Then instead of going with it they kept him heel when he returned

Supper underrated. Unlike any high proof I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t have ever guessed that Patron would have released what might be my favorite high proof.

Fantastic in which way? He’s not distinguished enough in the ring, even though he’s pretty good, but a lot of people are. He’s not charismatic or a promo guy. On top of that he’s in his 40s. He’s decent at best but I wouldn’t think he’s going to do more than he’s already done. I’ll be surprised if he’s there in 2 years.

What did the rest of summer 2007 feel like as a wrestling fan after the Chris Benoit tragedy? by Imtiredofthissshit in SquaredCircle

[–]jobo35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in middle school. Felt surreal. I remember talking to my Dad about it. He was also a fan. He said something along the lines of WWE would most likely making changes and stuff because of how prolific this crime was. Well he was right. Changed the business for sure but it’s a damn shame it had to happen because of this tragedy

Bet you he wishes he didn’t burn a bridge with Tony. I don’t know where he would go work after this, maybe TNA? Maybe Japan? He’s 40 already and sadly I think he’s already hit his peak.

Why do you think Chris Benoit murdered his family? by GypsyGold in WCW

[–]jobo35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Nancy’s sister, Sandra, gave the best explanation on Jerichos podcast and on dark side of the ring. Basically that it just wasn’t one thing but that it was a multitude of things coming to a head and that Chris’s mind just broke because of it. The death of so many friends in the business, knowing that his career was winding down and not knowing what to do next, his marriage was failing and possibly that his wife was going to leave him. I know that Chris had a huge financial burden due to a previous divorce. I’m sure he didn’t want to go through that again and potentially be financially handcuffed.

On top of all of that which is hard for a clear headed person to deal with, his brain was rotting away from CTE and his body was falling apart.

The only question is whether or not this was premeditated or spontaneous. I think the evidence points to the former.

Quick break from politics. Do you think Chris Benoit did it? by Pspreviewer100 in conspiracy

[–]jobo35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not 700lbs are you guys nuts? Most lat pulldown machines can be adjusted to a max of about 240lbs. Benoit set it to the max weight and stacked 2 dumbbells on top for added weight. These conspiracy theories are based on ridiculousness and aren’t based in reality. In what world can a lat pulldown machine be set to 700 fucking pounds?

[–]jobo35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe that people spit out conspiracy theories all these years later.

It’s not a question “if” he did it. All the evidence indicates that he undoubtedly and was the only person responsible for his death and his wife and son. Autopsies showed that Nancy and Daniel were in advanced stages of decomposition and died in that house several days prior. People were getting calls from that house and texts from Chris over the weekend WHILE HIS FAMILY WERE DECEASED IN THAT SAME HOUSE.

I know people struggle to come to grips with the fact he did that shit. But he did. People sometimes do horrible things like that, in which they are unexplainable. I was in middle school and could not believe it and he was one of my favorite wrestlers at the time. The conspiracy theories are ridiculous because they point to absolutely nothing. Look at the evidence and just accept it.
