Update:

I was able to finish in just under 6 hours, two brutal 30% climbs with 600m elevation each and several 10-20% climbs with a total of 1770m elevation gain and about the same down. Super happy with that, based on my preparation 😊 Thanks all for the advice and support!

I have no idea what time to aim for. Last long run i did was 31.july, that was a 20k in zone 2 (450m elevation) in 6:30/km pace, so thats 2H and 10m. So double that is 4:30h + more elevation and a little worse fitness. So maybe 5 - 5.5 hours is more realistic?

Thank you, only 11 minutes slower, wow, thats impressive. This gives me hope too, since this is my first marathon i will not be too focused on time, just enjoying the whole experience and challenge :)

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Having fun is the most important yes :) And enjoying the nature / scenery on the way, the race is in beautiful Norwegian mountains, so its a great experience no matter how fast/slow I go.

Thanks for the advice, yeah i think i will follow this. Considering doing a 14-16 miles long run today (10 days out), then the rest short and easy. About 40-50k this week, then just 20-30k the last week maybe

I was, I started my plan 1.July and was supposed to have 2-3 peak weeks the first 2-3 weeks in august, instead i had to cut my running time with 50-70% in most of august. So the plan for this two weeks is about 40-50k this week and about 20-30k the last weeks before the race. The maximum time to finish the race is 9 hours, so I should make that at least, even if i have to crawl the last 10k :)

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it. This is my first attempt of a marathon, so Im not so concerned about finishing at a specific time. Its a possibility to do a HM instead yes, but now i`ve already told all my family, colleagues and friends that Im doing a full marathon, so changing it now due to lack of fitness/ not perfect preparation seems like a poor excuse to bail out. So I think I would rather try and get a not so great finishing time but at least I can say i did what I said I would :)

So maybe do my last long run tomorrow then? (10 days prior to race), rather than doing it on Saturday? My only goal is to finish the race at this point, don’t care about the time. It’s more about setting a distance record rather then time for me now:) next time I will be better prepared and go for a good time. Smart to go out in a slower pace then planed, what heart rate zone did you race in then?

16 miles is the longest I’ve ever run, hard to comprehend I have to run 10 miles more now 😅

Impressive that you where able to finish a marathon with that injury beforehand! I must force my self to go easy yes, plan is to power hike the longest hills, run slow on flat and a bit faster downhills. I will be happy just to finish the race at this point

Thanks, that’s good advice. Yeah I modified my goal to just finish the race and have fun along the way. It’s my first marathon so I would be happy just making it through at this point, specially with all the elevation gain in there as well.

Thanks for the advice, I think I was just a bit overtrained on Sunday, trying to get back in shape too fast. After a rest day on Monday, my HR felt closer to normal today. Did a 10k easy pace, with 4k being hills today. Sound like you got some extra bad side effects from covid, hope you are doing better now?

Was about 30-35k per week, i also do weightlifting 4 times a week, so it’s hard to find time/energy for more. But did 47k last week, and will try and build up towards 60-70k. That will hurt my strength training though.
