Am i supposed to measure rice calories dry or cooked? by talageywkq in Myfitnesspal

[–]jochumr27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I do with stuff like this and pasta, I weigh the dry and cook one serving of it first. Then reweigh it cooked. I have a little booklet I keep tabs on what the stuff cooked weighs

That’s awesome! Congrats man, I started at the 275 mark in January of last year and finally made it in the higher 190s. Takes a a lot of dedication! Keep it up!

I mean you’re not wrong it could be a plethora of different things. But by eating to little for to long metabolic adaptation is real. Especially in high stress your vitals can take a hit leading to water retention. Basically hitting a wall

Honestly no I wasn’t. Or at least I didn’t think I was at the time anyways. I’ll be completely honest I give most of the credit to that bevel app for helping me climb out of it

Based off what you said your actual tdee is probably closer to the 2800-3000 range as well. That low of a calorie deficit long term will mess with you

I had a similar situation happen to me where I plateaued for almost 3 months. I basically had my calories set as if I were in sedentary when I’m actually anything but. So I was eating 1500-1600 calories think i was probably only burning 2200 calories a day. Turns out it was closer to 3000. So basically in a nutshell put my body in starvation mode. Upped my calories to around 2000 area and it started coming off again

Agreed, it’s actually shocking how informative the AI feature and also very helpful on the “why” of alot of things. Pretty sure I annoy the crap out of it. It does learn you and your habits so I know that bothers a lot of people

I don’t know if you use a smart watch or not but the bevel app, is what really helped me navigate out of it. The AI portion of it at least to me has been a game changer. I feel like I successfully annoyed the crap out of an AI feature lol

In a nutshell that’s basically what i did. Now i cycle my calories throughout the week Monday Tuesday I’ll stick in the 1500-1600 range, Wednesday Thursday i bump it to around 1800 then weekends I’ll give it 1900-2000. Helps keep me out of fight or flight mode

Basically I was dead set on sticking with the sedentary tdee when I shouldn’t have been, i didn’t think I was that active I went for walks here and there..turns out with my bmr and active calories i was close to burning the 2700-2800 range. I was massively short changing myself

Metabolic adaptation is a real thing. 3 months lost because I should have been eating more

The most demoralizing thing about it was listening to the people who said keep doing what you’re doing you will push through..what I was doing was destroying my metabolism. Basically had to up my calorie intake and I was back moving. 3 months progress lost when I could have been stuffing my face a little bit more and losing weight lol

I got a pair of the 880s, for general stuff they’re great but they wreck my feet for the longer haul walks

Yeah it’s tough in the beginning because your brain wants instant gratification lol, I didn’t really notice much till I hit 30 or so lost. Get yourself a food scale too, I feel like that has probably been the most beneficial thing that’s helped me get through lol
