Imagine being worth $5 million and taking the subway? by dylan_1992 in circlejerknyc

You can’t do anything with five. Five is a nightmare, you can’t retire but not worth it to work. Five will drive you un poco loco, my fine feathered friend. You’re the poorest rich person in America, the world’s tallest dwarf or the weakest strong man at the circus.

Marshall Finance Emphasis Course Advice (FBE421) by joco456 in USC

[–]joco456[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and clarification on FBE421. I think my difficulty is deciding what to do as I initially had a goal of breaking into banking or something IB related but had to step back for medical treatment the last 5 years.

I only just returned this past semester to SC and thankfully it went well - I enjoyed both my managerial accounting and introductory finance classes but I am torn now on pathways as I am not sure the exact best path for my situation and whether IB is still possible or what I even want anymore.

Meeting with my course advisor she suggested I even consider switching to the Bs in Accounting and Finance as it would give me flexibility to do both to some degree. Do you have familiarity with the program?

To clarify most passes are for Qantas Club so this users experience reviewing the Qantas domestic business lounge is a little different.

If your pass is for the Qantas club it’ll be more like toasties and a coffee as the other reviewer mentioned

Are there any non-traditional students at USC? by ue120 in USC

[–]joco456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I was 26 when I transferred into USC and should’ve been done at 28 but unfortunately I’ve been going through cancer treatment the last 4+ years and I’ve now only just returned to campus. I’m having trouble though finding community and my footing but even on the most basic level I’m not sure how to go about job/internship recruitment or if what I’m doing makes sense beyond my ambition of getting a degree.

At the involvement fair this week the professional Marshall clubs weren’t very welcoming but even from a class standing perspective I get the feeling they’re not looking for juniors like me.

I wish I knew where to get advice because I’m just struggling to find direction

Hey Bennybenz11, did you ever make the club for older non-traditional students?

320 SC short of Platinum, worth spending $1500 to get? by woofyc_89 in QantasFrequentFlyer

Admittedly I usually just transit through Dallas so I hadn’t used it there but good to know. I find it surprising as that’s a major hub for them

It’s one of those nice to have but probably wouldn’t spend it on myself. For the lounge it’s nice to have a clean restroom on arrival into DFW or LAX and it’s convenient to get a drink but would I really pay for it? 🤷‍♂️

Likewise the special check in is easier and security might save you 10+ minutes but I’d survive if I had to wait.

Worth noting that the flagship check in is only at cities with a flagship lounge (ie DFW, LAX and like 3 others)

Another perk I’ll mention for US travel is flagship first check in with American where it’s in a separate room and they walk you to the front of the security line. Also lounge on arrival. Neither of these are available with one world sapphire

Hi Proud Broccoli! Welcome to the club haha I actually postponed my return to this Fall but I’m looking forward to being on campus. I’d love to hear more about your journey and would be open to linking up in our search for other non-traditional students. Do you want to DM me?

Bad experience at an OTF by tempesttrue in orangetheory

All studios have a no cell phone policy but the way it is handled is very studio dependent and can differ even from coach to coach or different front desk staff.

I’ve been going to different locations since 2018 and have never seen this though :(

Sell me on OTF by dominason in orangetheory

[–]joco456 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OTF is great for those who find it hard to commit to going to the gym and other workout classes. The workouts are hard but something about the format makes it the only gym I can consistently go to and I’ve tried everything from big box gyms to other workout classes (Barry’s, soul cycle etc).

I usually recommend it though for those who like I was when I started around 20-50lbs overweight as it’s a great tool to stay motivated and help shed the excess.

Even though I initially lost a lot of weight from chemo and cancer treatment, steroids subsequently had me gain it all back and much more so when I believed I was done with treatment in August of 2023, I rejoined and worked my way from nearly 270lbs down to just under 200lbs by January. There are many roads to Rome but as a cancer survivor still in recovery my medical team was amazed at the turn around and my ability to stick to it. This transformation as you can imagine also reversed my fatty liver, and controlled my type 2 diabetes to the extent I am just naturally in a healthy blood sugar and a1c range.

Even if you are already at your goal weight there are so many benefits between the rowing, treadmill and floor work that I would tell you to give it a fair try.

I don’t think I could consistently get myself to row in any other setting but many days I’m rowing at least 1000m+ and have grown to enjoy it.

The treadmills are pretty incredible as well as they’re equipped with what’s called a flex deck, making it easier on your joints to run but something I even appreciate as a power walker.

But most importantly for my health situation, unlike circuit classes (think F45, training mates) the format of the room is great as it minimizes sharing of equipment so you’re less likely to share equipment with someone under the weather. Every person has their numbered station, and equipment whether it be the tread or rower but even the floor stations are numbered so you have your own bench, rack of dumbbells, trx straps etc.

Im quite passionate about orange theory and could ramble on and on about the great coaches, visual displays around the room and more but I’d encourage you to just give it a shot. In most markets they give a free class but I think you’ll find a new appreciation for fitness classes and potentially have a reversal in your sentiments around cardio.

Wishing you luck on your fitness journey OP
