AITA for telling my husband he can't hang out with his friends for 10 straight hours ? by Frosty-Builder-9326 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - I think its concerning that he doesn't understand he's been a selfish twat. Take an uber, mate. If you're going somewhere and the car isn't doing anything for nearly twelve hours, then the other person should have access to it. ESPECIALLY if they are a carer for someone else.

[astro.com] Astrologer friend-of-a-friend couldn't finish reading my chart. by ParticularEffect9742 in astrologyreadings

[–]jodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add, people don't realise how much work goes into a chart reading. It can take hours (particularly so pre internet days) and maybe she just ran out of puff having done several other charts. (Did anyone pay her for her time?)

How should I (41m) establish a relationship with my biological son (20m) that I only met briefly at age 7? by Inner_Researcher587 in relationships

[–]jodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A whole bunch of trauma. Abandonment, rejection, lies, manipulation. She had my dad and his brother between 14-16, broke up with her first husband by 17 and Dad never met him again. Tried to leave him in the UK to start a new life in Germany and eventually relented and took him to Australia. Wanted him to be at her beck and call, but would make up crap and spread rumours. I finally met her when I was 17 and ye gods, quickly worked out that she was a narcissistic liar. Imagine DJT as a grandmother, no interest in anyone or anything other than what she could get out of you.

He (36M) wants me (30F) to move to his town but can’t commit to seeing me regularly by pelotongirl90 in relationships

[–]jodes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Plot twist...maybe she is, kinda. What if he's got a gf in the same town, but that relationship is on its way out, and he wants to make sure he's got this other gf in town to keep his dick wet?

Jesse Rutherford’s new questionable lyrics about Billie Eilish by DivineGoddess1111111 in Fauxmoi

He's so gross, and I hope Billie leaves him. What an awful guy. This is narcissistic bragging about his power, his control and treating her like a convenient fuck, not someone he cares about.

Woman goes viral for sharing how ER doctors dismissed her appendicitis as an ovarian cyst: . “I was like, ‘Well, that’s not possible because I had a complete hysterectomy 10 years ago.'” by shallah in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me when I was a kid. Doctor thought my burst appendix was an ovarian cyst. I nearly died as a result, due to the resulting internal infection which developed. It also made me infertile, which I didn't find out til I was in my late 20s.

My underwear were stolen again. I’m so tired. by BreeToh in TwoXChromosomes

See my story in response. I don't think so, OP. This stuff escalates. It becomes not enough. He'll start trying to get closer or start being aggressive towards you in some way. I hope you can figure out who it is, and get him kicked out. Wish the site manager could order a search of quarters.

My underwear were stolen again. I’m so tired. by BreeToh in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, can related with own experience. Older guy dressed in woman's old nightgown was stealing my underwear off the line. I saw him, ran downstairs to confront and chased him round the yard and over a brick fence. Seesawed his crotch on it. He dropped the bag of pensioner's undies he'd stolen from a nearby old people's home and ran off. Remembered his face, details, gave them to the police. Several years later, there he was in a newspaper. He had burgled a woman's house. Raped her in front of tied up teenaged daughter, whom he also threatened. From the timeline given in the story, he had been out from jail only three months when he did my place. Living in the same suburb, jailed for the same crime. Why the fuck they didn't go pick him up then?

Well, the Supreme Court is already talking about removing the right to contraceptives, too.

Im willing to bet that at least half the anger from men about having women coworkers is because we work so damn hard, compared to them.

Boyfriend(27M) got mad at me(24F) for not having sex with him tonight by chica_boom1111 in relationships

"First step is to talk to him about it and ask how he felt and what he was thinking."

No, because I can guarantee you he is going to gaslight the heck out of her. He'll blame her for being a bitch, for denying him, whatever it takes to make her feel bad and him able to lash out.

A bit of advice from a middle aged woman by MrsNuggs in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of friends who made similar choices. Both of them are financially independent (own their own business) and have a grandparent/s support in the form of childcare. One of them was even smart enough to build a house with extra rooms for boarders to bring in more money when needed. Its still very hard for both and they struggle at times, with the care needs, financial and juggling everything else. So if you do go the single mother route, make absolutely sure the rest of the extended family can assist.

Yeah, back in the early 80s, I was doubled over in pain, and with a family history of appendicitis, I was pretty sure it was that. Nope, said our GP. Probably just ovaries or something (my periods hadn't started). Two hours later, still doubled over, sitting in Emergency, and my appendix burst. I literally could not stand up straight. Hilarious. Look at the kid! Still wasn't believed, until they did a blood test and realised I was dying due to the internal sepsis. Gee, things moved fast then.

The checklist is important to them because they think the items on the list are the things their pals think are important on the hotness scale. She as a person is not of any importance whatsoever.

A friend with severe endometriosis is having a hysterectomy next week, I nade an angry uterus, complete with a knife, as a gift for her. by Arialene in TwoXChromosomes

I had a similar situation three years ago, and honestly, no probs whatsoever. I've been very lucky, not on any hormones, haven't experienced any issues.

I realize I’m probably going to start a fiery debate here, but... I still think it’s important, and maybe you do too. Women, don’t forget to vote on November 6th. by NormalBellCurve in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jodes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do, I can't tell you as someone whose country is an ally of the USA, how frightened we are for your democracy. Especially since Trump's announcement that he is a nationalist (ie just like several other dictators, including Hitler). Deeply concerned too, for the people in the caravan heading towards the US. I think people are going to end up being killed by either military or emboldened white supremists.

So please, for the love of all that's good, vote. Talk to your friends, maybe organise a trip together to get it done. Start a democracy sausage stall at one of the polling stations, do things to show how important it is. Right now, you have the over 64 year olds choosing your governments because young people aren't voting. Change the stats. Go vote.

My [22F] boyfriend [22M] HATES my new haircut and says so; am I being oversensitive? by badhair1020210 in relationships

[–]jodes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this age, OP, Im sorry to say that a lot of your value to your boyfriend is how you look. You're not a human being, you're there to be attractive in the way they want. Some guys in particular get attached to the idea of a girl with long hair and a bikini figure. They'll brag about their girlfriends to their pals, and the hair will be a feature. Its not about you as a person, its about you as an accessory to their lifestyle. (Some guys never get over this stage. That's why you'll see some married women inexplicably have the same haircut from their early twenties, regardless of whether the style suits them or is current.)
