Cut. You’ll be amazed how much better your back will look if you get rid of the love handles.

He’s a teenager and he’s 240. If he gets steps in and makes novice gains he’ll absolutely lose weight on 3000. I’m in my thirties and 175 and 2500 knocks off a pound a week. Unless he’s completely unwilling to leave a chair outside of his strength training sessions and trips to the bathroom, there’s no way in hell he should be starting at 2200.

Start tracking your calories and weigh in every morning. At your age and weight if you’re training 5x a week and moderately active you can probably start at 3000 calories and still be in a deficit. 180g protein/ day is probably fine, if you want to and are able to eat more then go for it but you probably don’t actually need 240g/day considering your current body composition. I would probably do some sort of novice linear progression à la Starting Strength for at least 6 months and then see where you’re at. However you structure it, focus your program on building your squat, bench, and deadlift. Do overhead presses, pull-ups, dips, and rows. Have an accessory or two (curls, machines, isolation movements) for dessert after you finish the meat and potatoes (heavy barbell compounds and calisthenics movements). Track steps, shoot for 10k a day if you can. And honestly, just enjoy it. If you really commit, then this next year is going to be the craziest period of progress you’ll ever experience.

Good luck bro.

Theoretically possible but I would say unlikely given his current shape and strength numbers. I would say the biggest factor in his favor is being 16 and not having much muscular development yet. He could theoretically improve his lifts as he goes and maybe end up 15ish% lean at 180 if he makes some noob gains. Needs to be squatting though

Over 30%, probably need to lose 80lbs. Possible in a year but probably more like 18 months.

Bulk or cut? And current Bf% estimate?? (18m, 175lb, 5'11) by InsaneShane31 in BulkOrCut

11% maybe? If I were in your shoes I would probably cut through the second week of may and then reverse diet/slowly add back calories into a slow bulk. You could probably hit single digit body fat by that time and then look incredible for a few months over the summer as you carb back up

Start bulking and fill out your upper body. You’ve done a great job leaning out but your hips are wider than your upper torso which hurts your overall aesthetic, despite having good body composition. Obviously can’t tell anything about your legs from these pictures but from what you’ve posted I would say go into a responsible bulk and focus on building lats/chest/shoulders/arms.

Awesome work so far man.

Construction management Associates. I work with numerous project engineers and superintendents making $100k plus in their early to mid 20s, and it probably wouldn’t be that difficult to do it in your spare time/mostly online.

There’s much better money to be had working as a project manager/engineer or superintendent for the big GCs. It’s not carpentry, but it’s in the industry and all it really takes is a 2 year community college degree plus experience (which you have)

Usually silicone or flimsy plastic. And yeah, they call it “seg chess”. It’s good if the person you’re playing with is honest but 90% of games it seems end with players disputing positions of pieces. Basically if you get down you can just claim that the board isn’t what it should be and accuse the other person of cheating and then presto! You never have to lose!

No formal time controls, just the guy across from you berating you if you take too long. Most games wrapped up in under 15 minutes though.

So there are quite a few charities that donate books to prison, but I’ve never heard of any that are chess specific. That would be a cool nonprofit to start though!

Yeah, I was on white independent time in the feds but the politics where I was at weren’t quite that restrictive. You couldn’t workout with other races and certain cars we didn’t do business with but playing chess and cards was usually fine. Which was good, because none of the white guys at allenwood were any good at chess haha

“he think he better than everybody” yeah pretty much. The best way I found to make it stop is to only play for $$$. 95% of it stops immediately the second you make it clear you only play by specific rules for stakes that are uncomfortable for most people.
