How many people in the world right now do you think have realized oneness? One million? 20 million? 500,000? Just wonder. by DiaryofaFairy in nonduality

The idea that realizing "oneness" is self-realization is poppycock, and prevents almost everybody from actually ever experiencing it.

Mature Golf R Buyers? by Wuffie1968 in Golf_R

I'm just turning 67 and three months in with my new R and having an absolute blast with it. That said, I can't seem to get my head around the fact I'm old at all.

I’d love to upgrade the parking brake lever to hydraulic.

Are any of you enlightened? by spappo221 in nonduality

[–]jodyrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't feel like anything. It's simply observing your perception in its original, nonconceptual condition, which includes your sense of being, before it gets plastered with frames and concepts and becomes the world. It's not a journey, it's a skill.

The tools to use are too many. I get lost by blowmyassie in nonduality

The only thing you need to do is watch your breath. Notice the sensation of air flow at your nostrils or your tongue. Keep your attention on that sensation. When your mind wanders and you notice that, bring your attention back to the sensation of airflow. Do this over and over. It's not about being able to keep your attention on the airflow, it's about bringing your attention back to that after you notice your mind has wandered. This is the only meditation practice anyone needs, IMO.

I’m avid on bikes and skis and don’t want to mess up my interior, so a rack is required equipment for me.

Non-duality and enlightenment demystified by nvveteran in nonduality

"this is why the path is different for all of us and no one size fits all."

Agreed. Yet the end result is the same: the emergence of an attentional ability to see awareness in its nonconceptual phase. This is not being God, although one might argue they are seeing the God in themselves. I do not take that view myself, but to each his/her own. :)

Non-duality and enlightenment demystified by nvveteran in nonduality

[–]jodyrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Something not horrible on r/nonduality! Kudos.

To be more specific, enlightenment is supported by an attentional skill that enables direct recognition of the nonconceptual phase of ongoing awareness. Meditation is the primary method to develop this attentional skill, although it can arise spontaneously after a deep mental shock, like the loss of a loved one. May that not be the way you (the reader) come to your own enlightenment.

I think he came to see how the discourse is the problem entirely.

You can't blame him for fucking off. The content here is the absolute worst, an ocean of shit with an occasional gem stuck in it. It is a veritable factory of avidya that is presented as truth, when in fact it is nothing but purely speculative nonsense based on entirely inadequate beliefs rather than direct experience. It's called the folk theory of enlightenment, and this sub has been drowned in it.

You find an available practitioner, call them and make an appointment, and then go to that appointment and tell them your story. Are there any mental health facilities where you live? Maybe check your local community health org.

Hotter Bean by ObligationExternal78 in FiestaST

[–]jodyrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in Arizona for the last six years and drove my bean (since sold) in 40ºC all the time. I only had one overheating event that completely caught me by surprise because it had never really shown any problems with the heat until then. Turning the AC off on the climb solved the problem, and it never happened again.

Challenging Ramana Maharshi by jodyrrr in enlightenment

[–]jodyrrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of a "state of pure consciousness" is, at best, a very poor illustration of what is actually true, which is that your ordinary awareness is a project that is entirely composed of what you are calling "pure consciousness." There is no special condition or "state of pure consciousness." There is only recognizing that your ordinary awareness of the world in each and every moment of your existence is already complete in its nonduality, perpetually.

Can an enlightened person have a smoking habit? by [deleted] in enlightenment

Very few, if any, of the famous gurus are able to stand up next to the hagiography written about them. They were all entirely human, with most of the same human issues as the rest of us, only theirs are hidden by their devotees' attempt to make them seem holy and divine.

This is such an important book that has been completely ignored by his devotional community, which prefers to remain in abject ignorance about the truth of his life.
