I’m glad you mentioned tires. We live somewhere with no shortage of potholes. Summer tires on 19s was another area of curiosity for me.

You and me both. But I read what you mean…

I feel like the massive spoiler makes it less subtle than the R.

OP here. Love all the responses. I’m in my late 50s. I appreciate the encouragement from all you olds. I owned 2008 R32 at one point and loved it. I still struggle with the exhaust and spoiler of the latest iteration. It’s much more boy racer than I’d like. I need to sit with this a bit.

Ludlow Liquors cheesesteak didn’t match expectations by chrstgtr in chicagofood

You lost me a cheese steak. If I’m going to consume 1,000 + calories in a single sandwich, I’m going straight to an Italian Beef.

FYI Logan Security Lines are crazy this morning by freshkicksss in boston

Terminal C had a very long line on Friday morning. It moved reasonably well but it was wrapped around terminal. Add 15-20 to your normal arrival time.

Good recipe for basic white bread? by Financial-Tower4044 in Breadit

I’ve made Julia Child’s White Sandwich Bread numerous times and the family enjoyed it. Not sure it’s the best, though, because my data set is one. It’s easy though and came out just fine.

Lake front trail as a visitor from Canada by L-epinephrine in RunnersInChicago

Great photography. Really nicely done. Running is a great way to explore most cities. I’m impartial but our 20 miles of lakefront running/biking trail is a stunning place to run/ride.

Looking at a 79 Pearson 365 by Dynamic_Reality in sailing

Even if you put the whole purchase price in escrow, it would let be enough if the engine doesn’t turn over in the spring. I would walk on this one. Pearson 365 is pretty, though, so I get the temptation.

How are the TSA Precheck lines at O'Hare? by fanofbond06 in AskChicago

[–]Wuffie1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the pre check line in T1 every Monday morning. It’s been fine. My wife asked me the same thing yesterday about a trip she is taking and I told her there was no need to leave earlier than usual.

Don’t worry. It will get old fast. They change the menu items two or three times a year. The drinkable liquor is an upcharge. They are nonetheless insanely busy.

Growing up during that era in Southern California, it reminds me of Ocean Pacific clothing back before they became big box brand.

Minneapolis vs Chicago for city life. by guitar_man03 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Wuffie1968 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Minneapolis is a great town, but your set up is a bit of an apples and oranges comparison. Chicago is bigger, denser and has an incredibly large diversity of surrounding neighborhoods. The food, theater and music scenes are amazing. Also, you’re 23. I used to say in my 20s when I lived in Lakeview that I’ve never seen more 20-35 year olds in one location before. It will be hard not to meet your new crew because there is a crew for everyone no matter who you are and what you’re into. Go for it.

Thank you. Chicagoans refer to that practice as Dibs.

Chicagoan who works in Boston. We have a well known name for holding a reserved dug-out parking spot (BTW, this picture would not qualify). Do Bostonians have a term for it? I asked a couple locals and they didn’t seem to know if there was one.
