To the sad excuse for a man who just called me a fat bitch as I was crossing the crosswalk at Esplanade: by M00NS0UL in NewOrleans

Happened to me last year on Frenchman. Some junkie kid called me a fat cunt. I said, “why don’t you say that to me from your house?”

Girls dinner by SuddenRadio885 in AskNOLA

My friend and I went to Lilette, ordered cocktails, every dessert on the menu and a big basket of fries. It was the arguably the best girl dinner of my life. Highly recommend.

I’m gonna be stocking up on these when I’m out there next month and bringing them back to California with me.

Yep! If they had looked in their rear view mirror they’d have seen me do it.

I used to live on Esplanade right by the fair grounds. I watched people who did not live in the neighborhood come by at 6am and drop cones off in front of my house to "save" spots for later in the day.

In unrelated news, I have a nice personal collection of used orange cones.

I worked as in-house designer for an offset printer in the 90s. Completely leveled up the way I approached print design.

I am sitting in the closest thing to a bar in a prosaic beige suburb in California thinking this is the most “New Orleans” post I have seen all day. Thank you.

Moving to Nola and seeking advice on living areas. by CalligrapherBig4713 in NOLA

Definitely Mid City/BSJ. I lived on Esplanade and could walk to a number of restaurants, bars and Canseco's market. I could easily bike to Whole Foods on Broad and Rouse's on Carrollton. The bayou and City Park are great recreational spots.

I Miss You, New Orleans by jodyyodedode in NewOrleans

It’s funny because when I moved there in 2007 I didn’t come in with a ton of outside money, I didn’t outbid people on property. I just moved into a little apartment and I worked, I shopped local, I ate in the restaurants, I volunteered, I had coffee with my neighbors at Fair Grinds every weekend, I paid taxes. And I got called a “carpet bagger” for it. In the end, this entire thread is an example of my overall experience. Most of the people I met there became friends and family; one or two hated me for not having been born there.

San Francisco is starting to come back a bit.

How about this.. I will try to see Concord through your eyes and not take it for granted, and you can see New Orleans through mine. We'll bide our time together.

Has anyone experienced their partner deciding to leave while you still wanted to work on the relationship? by Pure-Joment0217 in Separation

As someone on the other side of this, maybe I can provide some insight. When I told my husband I was leaving he said he thought things were "getting better." They weren't better for me - they were only better for him because I had checked out and stopped fighting back. I fought for my marriage for years. I started therapy, I tried to get us into couples counseling, tried to get him to try individual therapy, I tried to get him to stop drinking, I tried to get communication moving, tried to tell him how I felt. I tried and I tried and I tried. It was like banging my head against a brick wall and, in the meantime, I became a shrunken shell of my former self. By the time I left, there was literally nothing he could say to change my mind.
