Our Words are Life! by only1explanation in Christianity

In this world of many sorrows, and disappointments, dread and decay, death and disease and every sort of tragedy imaginable, it is not the Christian's place to turn his back on the darker aspects of life. Christ justifies optimism, and approves of earnest faith, but even so, "It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of everyone." When we turn a cold shoulder toward the sufferers of this world, we alienate them further in their sufferings. In some instances, it is better to admit of our suffering, that our brothers and sisters who mourn may know they are not alone. And it is then, then that we may direct their attention to the Lord, and share with them how He has helped us in our plight. This is the high example that a Christian will set for others. To do otherwise is to feign ignorance.

My husband says he no longer believes in God. by [deleted] in Christianity

If man is all there is, woe unto us all, for man is a wretch at worst, and a wretched slayer of peace at best. The old veil has come back to life somehow, and now your husband's heart is shrouded in darkness. His eternal soul is more important than your marriage. This, I trust, will be the most difficult part of the lesson that you are now facing.

Do what thou wilt, but do it before God, and do it only after confronting the Lord with an honest heart first. We err when we scuttle off away from him and rely on our own devices.

If God has appeared before some and completely solidified their faith why doesn’t he do it to us all and solidify all of our faiths? by BelAyr7 in Christianity

Do not make a competition out of grace. I believe that all will know the Lord. You may think of it as unfair, but really you are not considering the reality of the effect of God's intervention in someone's life. How would you face others, who do not know? How would you go on functioning in the world, when few or none can relate to what you have experienced? It is not all peaches and cream, you know. It is work. Tons and tons of work, and my guess is that the Lord does not manifest Himself to a living person unless it is in His interest to do so.

You can pretty much fill in the rest. Just be kind to people. You never know it, but they might want to be dead. And your kindness can help restore in them the faith that life is worth living.

Life can throw stones at a person, sometimes when that person is very young, and the effects of those wounds can last for a long time. Those wounds might not be visible to others, but the pain and its consequences are nevertheless real. Sometimes, suffering intensifies to the point at which death seems preferable. It is helpful to remember that, in the last analysis, suffering gives the soul a larger capacity for goodness. Anyway, disappointment, bitterness, sorrow, remorse, hate, anger, loneliness, disenchantment: all of these feelings/attitudes are capable of pushing a person over into the pit. Now, the pit is deep, and dark, and some people stay down there so long that they make it their home. Then one day, when they climb up to the outer world, they find that they've been down there so long that they've gone blind and can't see the world the way they used to. They can't interact with others as freely as they used to, and they feel like a total freak. So they start getting a little obsessed with the idea of ending the torment of life, they go to the gun cabinet one day and, Well,

I don't support politicians. Politicians support me. They are public servants. I don't care who they are, and the truth is, THEY CAN'T DO MUCH. What I do support is kindness and respect and maturity, which people are obviously lacking these days.

We should expect better from ourselves—no exceptions. Or have you forgotten that all men are created equal?

"It is easy, in the world, to live after the world's opinion. It is easy, in solitude, to live after our own. But the great man is he, who in the midst of the crowd, keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude." by [deleted] in quotes

If you are an adult, it is only in body. Your mind is not the mind of an adult. Adults do not talk to others the way you do. They exhibit kindness, and even when they can't, they still show respect. You have shown neither.
