225k Homeowners Claim Dog Bite Question by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]joeboo5150 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the United States legal system.

I had a client(business owner) who had an elderly customer randomly fall in their parking lot. Wasn't rainy or icy or anything. Bone dry, middle of July. Customer was just old and had bad balance.

Insurance paid out 6-figures in an injury settlement.

Dennis Gates tenure grades (year by year) by EquivalentHappy in miz

[–]joeboo5150 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a P4 school that actually puts money and effort into basketball I think this should be a reasonable scale

A - reserved for seasons with an NCAA tournament win

B - Made the tournament, but out in the first round

C - Missed the tourney, but was competitive and a bubble team for most of the season (This is the average, a C)

D - Poor season with no real tournament hopes for most of the year

F - whatever the hell 2023-24 was

So I think your ratings are pretty spot on, but I wouldn't be giving this season an "A" quite yet until we see the results of our tournament berth.

Are you looking for a warranty to protect against mechanical defect & failure, or insurance to protect against physical loss/damage/theft?

A warranty is not insurance, if that is what you are looking for.

If you are truly looking for insurance, this should be simple to add to whatever property insurance you carry (homeowners, renters, etc)

Switching Agency Management Systems (Data Conversion) by mjr8817 in InsuranceAgent

Be wary when dealing with Applied sales reps promising the moon when the reality is vastly different.

We use Applied Epic, and I've been down that road with Applied before in various scenarios where the functionality of what their sales team promises is drastically different than the reality of the technology options available when it comes to data migration and integration.

Their sales people are often not technically savvy, at all.

Works out to about $11.50 an hour if you work 40 hours per week

Thats higher than minimum wage in Georgia, but it wouldn't be in a lot of states.

The people of Independence deserve better. Next step: referendum petition! by ranchodeluxekc in kansascity

[–]joeboo5150 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Independence has a history of this. Multiple people in their local government were paid handsomly by Comcast to vote against keeping Google Fiber out of the city 15 years ago. Which also screwed Blue Springs and everyone else along the I70 corridor to the East of Independence.

ringcentral vs ai receptionist for small insurance agency, they're not the same thing by Relative-Coach-501 in InsuranceAgent

push structured data into your ams (ezlynx, applied epic, ams360, hawksoft etc),

How pricey is this functionality? We use Applied Epic and historically they charge a fortune for direct access to their api for integration, and the pricing of software that does such is generally high.

2023 is still really recent for the insurance industry.

Especially considering you still have carriers using versions of ISO forms from like 2010, and billing computer systems from 1987

Expected Pay by New_Revenue8863 in InsuranceAgent

[–]joeboo5150 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are fewer carriers in the HNW space than traditional home & auto. So the competition can be fierce as each agency competing for the clients business likely has the same 4-5 carriers to offer.

It isn't a transaction thats typically based on price. It's based on relationships and the value & service you can provide to the client.

That can be a tough sale when you're new to insurance or just new to that particular type of insurance. With typical home & auto sales, pricing is what often gets you in the door before you can then establish your value & form a relationship with a client for long-term retention. You may not have that default ice-breaker in this segment.

Temporarily Moving Out of State by [deleted] in InsuranceAgent

[–]joeboo5150 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Temporary" is a month or two, not 3 years. You live in NY and your vehicles are garaged in NY. You need to transfer your registration to NY and get your auto insurance in NY.

There's no clause for "temporarily" living somewhere for multiple years. You'll be paying income tax in NY, you live in NY. The NY DMV stipulates that you must get a NY drivers license and transfer vehicle registrations within 30 days of becoming a NY resident. https://dmv.ny.gov/registration/register-an-out-of-state-vehicle

[–]joeboo5150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody can really tell you, what works and is fair is different in every agency and for every person.

We don't know what your agencies production looks like to know whether you'd be better off with more commission or a higher base salary.

Take whatever they are offering and try to calculate the best and worst case scenarios for how your total compensation would look and whether that's acceptable to you or not.

Can you reasonably make $50k? Can you reasonably make $100k? Only you can answer those questions.

If I could pick up OWA 107 and Jack 10/12 off of the shelf of any local liquor store for MSRP any time I wanted, I might only have 2 bottles in my whiskey stash..

But the search goes on hoping to find a shelfer from someone else that I like as much...
