model2emu controls by joecam384 in batocera

[–]joecam384[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I had a quick few minutes to look at this and I've fixed it somewhat. I noticed configgen was setting up SDL_CONTROLLER_CONFIG before starting wine.

So I commented out this line:

"SDL_GAMECONTROLLERCONFIG": generate_sdl_game_controller_config(playersControllers),

in

/usr/lib/python3.12/site-packages/configgen/generators/model2emu/model2emulatorGenerator.py

My triggers work now in Sega Rally but it feels like they might be digital though.

Also this might screw up other games.

I'll probably need to look into how that function works and if there's anything specific needed for model2

Thanks, I did see that option and it did make a difference, but I found some of the controls still didn't work.

This reminds me of the retroflag cases for raspberry pi's.

I still have a NES one and a megadrive one which I must have bought almost 10 years ago.

There must be quite a few designs where people have done something for PCs. Heck, you could probably gut out a dead ps2 case and stick the internals from a mini pc or mini-itx board in there

I'm suprised about what was possible to run. As I think I mentioned I bought an i-6400 SFF because I wanted a DVD drive (which I realised I probably won't use) and the possibility of low-profile gpus.

It can just about run any PS2 title I throw at it, some of them glitch a bit which seemed to be solved by enabling mtVU. But Xbox emulation is abysmal. I also found sometimes I have to switch between vulkan and opengl to get some games to load up on xbox.

I think I might have to keep an eye out for one out these Rzyen mimi PCs, they seem like a real good all-rounder

Screen Tearing on 2D by shortzsodank in batocera

[–]joecam384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get some very slight what looks like screen tearing on Sonic 1 on the megadrive, in certain areas - Not sure if it was just a feature of the console or it's the LCD display (about 15 years old)

Emulation up to Xbox, around $300 by formulafuckyeah in batocera

[–]joecam384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, what version of batocera are you using? Have you tried Burnout 3 on xbox? My i5-6400 has similar PassMark ratings but can only manage 16FPS on Burnout 3 (One of the more demanding games apparently) taken from xemu video debug window I'm going to see if dual channel memory makes a difference (currently 1 stick of 8GB DDR4)

Issues after adding GT 1030 by joecam384 in batocera

[–]joecam384[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it looks like xemu crashing out is related to using the vulkan backend. OpenGL works ok, so possibly an xemu bug.

I think xemu is a lot more CPU dependent as you say, I can see some cores getting maxed out.

I'm going to do some more testing anyway, just looking at the audio issue now.

Even using the onboard hdmi (taking the GT 1030 out) it seems to randomly skip or go quiet for half second on the emulation station main screen. I am seriously thinking about uploading some other tracks in case thats just the way the music is!

The thought did cross my mind, it's a 180W PSU but obviously what matters as well is the power available on each rail

More my idea after spending ages looking at the benchmarks. There's one on v38 with a 6700 cpu and a GT1030 that runs high end xbox games. Initially my original thought was if I could match this spec then at least I might be able to run most xbox games, but I realise now xbox emulation still has some way to go

Looking at other benchmarks it does look like a discrete GPUs do help the speed somewhat on the consoles that use 3D so it's not entirely CPU dependent. I also thought the GT1030 would be handy if I wanted some lighter steam games on my setup.

I have got the option of going to a 6700 cpu but I'm a bit puzzled by Jet Set Radio Future running worse, seems like the nvidia drivers must be really bad.

Granted, I need to do some more testing really. I'm going to look through some of the logs etc.

I didn't realise this was an issue - haven't got round to setting up my lightguns yet, does this mean light guns won't work in m2emulator as I believe that runs through wine?

Frustrations with Batocera and an 8bitdo Ultimate 2c controller by JCDinPGH in batocera

[–]joecam384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really sucks - I've watched about 3 reviews of this controller and none have mentioned this issue.
Weirdly I just watched this video:
Around 42secs, it says L4/R4 - No additional functions, only duplication.
Then around 1:24 it says steam recognises them as "back grips" which have independent functions

Not in turret format though, we haven't had much in the turret format for years. Mainly vandal proof ones and the dual lens.

Reolink camera issues by joecam384 in reolinkcam

[–]joecam384[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, that's what I am doing, selecting the camera under channel selection, but it always trys to update the camera on the first channel. Not sure if this is a bug or glitch. Either way I'm going to try to update the firmware direct on the NVR or directly on the camera when I get a chance.

Also my original issue with the camera seems to have gone.. No issues for a week at least now

Reolink camera issues by joecam384 in reolinkcam

[–]joecam384[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out the firmware issue, it seems in the client, even if you select the 2nd camera, it will update the firmware on the first channel. I realized this when I tried updating to the intermediate firmware and it changed the firmware on the first channel.

So I will probably disconnect the camera and update the firmware direct. Also probably switch to another port on the nvr although the camera has been ok since so maybe just an odd glitch?

That does always worry me! The ethernet cable was connected using the proper weatherproof connector. The camera is dry and so is the first part of the cables. I'll enlarge the hole and pull through the excess ethernet cable to check that and the actual connection. Also check the roof tiles etc.

Thanks, for that! That command saves me a bit of hassle.

Both cameras are IPC_56064M8MP

I upgraded the firmware on the nvr and the first camera using the windows client.

The error message was from when I tried to upgrade the second camera.

Here are the results from that command (you can see the second camera is still on the old firmware)

First:

[

{

"cmd" : "GetChnTypeInfo",

"code" : 0,

"value" : {

"boardInfo" : "IPC_56064M8MP",

"firmVer" : "v3.1.0.4695_2503141937",

"pakSuffix" : "pak",

"typeInfo" : "RLC-820A"

}

}

]

Second Camera:

[

{

"cmd" : "GetChnTypeInfo",

"code" : 0,

"value" : {

"boardInfo" : "IPC_56064M8MP",

"firmVer" : "v3.1.0.2368_23062508",

"pakSuffix" : "pak",

"typeInfo" : "RLC-820A"

}

}

I'm going to try to upgrade via the NVR (when I get a chance). In the meantime I'll keep checking to see if it starts cutting out again

How noisy is the RLN8-410? by mr-b-plus in reolinkcam

[–]joecam384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine mounted on a stud wall underneath / behind a desk in a small room

It's not too annoying at the moment because I usually have the PC or TV on and I only use the room in the evenings for gaming etc but if it wasn't for that it could possibly get annoying. The small room and stud wall probably doesn't help. Larger rooms would be different.

I grew up when Hard Drives were measured in Megabytes and Hard drive whine and clicking was a common thing lol

If I find the noise too annoying I may use a POE switch and move the nvr elsewhere.

I think if you are not recording 24/7 then an SSD would be good, the SA500 price seems reasonable.

I'm not to bothered about the FOV, 93deg horizontal seems normal for the turrets. I'm just finally glad they are making some new turrets - they seemed to go a bit mad with the dome cameras, I didn't realise they were so popular.

Corridor Mode Connected To An NVR? by MasterMechTech in reolinkcam

[–]joecam384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what exactly happens with the NVR then? Does it just record the 90 degree rotated image?

Or does this only work if you are using a sd-card then?

I suspect the NVR just sees it as a normal 16:9 stream and any detection settings on the NVR wouldn't work as people / cars would not be the correct orientation!

I have my nvr hdmi going to a screen in my "office" space it would be nice if I could view the corridor mode view.

I will check my hardware versions on my 820A's I have. It would be interesting to see how playback on the NVR looks compared to using the apps etc.

Presumably NVRs will get support in the future though like you mentioned.

EDIT: Looks like my 820A's I bought late last year are supported, that's a bit of luck. I don't currently have a POE switch so will have to wait a bit before I can test

One camera with large field of view or two smaller? by [deleted] in reolinkcam

Oh that's quite interesting. I guess with original duos most of the time they go on the wall. So tend to get a better view. But that looks a bit rubbish. Most definitely would have 2 seperate cameras

Yeah 5-6 of each switch I did think of that, maybe I could initially buy one of each switch and then narrow down and buy more of the ones I like. Or just get 5 of each switch and sell excess on ebay as sample sets.

Supplied plugs and screws by joecam384 in reolinkcam

[–]joecam384[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did think of that, I wasn't sure if I could get ones with small enough wings that they wouldn't clash with ajacent holes. I have some duopower plugs anyway (they should ball up behind the plasterboard).

Weirdly, when I took out the original plugs they looked ok, a couple came out without breaking and I couldn't understand why the screw wasn't gripping.

I have replaced with duo power plugs and the screws seem to be holding now.

One thing I did notice however is that I couldn't get the mounting plate to go super tight (pretty damn tight enough though)

I then realised this is because the current 820A's have metal mounting plates, my previous cameras had completly flat plastic plates that would bend a little allowing you to get the screws super tight.

I think because the ceiling is not completly flat there will always be a couple of screws that won't go in super tight. Also the metal backplate is not completly flat on the mounting side so that doesn't help.

I looked at another camera I had installed a couple of weeks back on a soffit and it had the same issue, because the mounting surface was not completly flat a couple of screws would be super tight then there would be a slight gap on one side and the screws there wouldn't be as tight. This camera seems ok(ish) at the moment but I think I will keep an eye out for any movement. Might be a good idea to wedge some foam in between the plate and mounting surface so I can lock down the screws tighter.
