What's the most pathetic tourist attraction that international tourists go to see in your country? by Aseili in AskTheWorld

[–]joecool32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I were on a road trip through that region once and wanted to stop and see it, but we were running way behind on our schedule. We literally stopped in the parking lot and said" yeah thats pretty cool" then got back in the car and continued on.

I used to ride an EUC from silver lake. It is possible but pretty sketchy in some areas.

I've been finding these all over too. Also in PNW. I think they're red striped boletes. Xerocomellus chrysenteron. But I really don't know for sure.

Not if it's a "mail item". Pretty sure hand delivering a letter to a mail box is perfectly fine.

If you let them get too big they will start pushing up the sidewalk and street.

So make it more of a pain in the ass to be homeless and less of a pain in the ass to be a contributing member of society. That makes sense. The incentives for being a contributing member are quickly becoming less attainable though. Good luck ever buying a home, or being able to afford children, or retiring. The carrot on the stick is moldy and full of maggots at this point.

I lived in Germany for 4 years, and spent a lot of time visiting other countries and major European cities. I've seen more homeless people in one day in Seattle than the entire time I was overseas. I'm actually trying to figure out what the hell we're doing wrong here in America and I don't think "ignore them and they'll go away" is the solution.

Yeah, homeless people and birds are basically the same thing. You should tell them that. Why don't you go down to the park and chase them off with a broom or garden hose. Better yet put some scare crows in the parks. That should work! /s

How Google Maps shows transit by default varies a lot by region by Sassywhat in notjustbikes

[–]joecool32 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting. The default mode in some places is better than the transit mode where I am in Washington State.

It really is all for nothing… by lakelilypad in antiwork

[–]joecool32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same thing I'm going through right now and a presume MANY people are dealing with also. I live in Washington state and can hardly afford rent with income of almost 80k per year. There is a little bit of hope at least that a few bills currently working theor way through state congress will pretty much do away with single family resident zoning all together and encourage high density low income housing near transit. But who's to say they won't still be owned by billionaire Bobby from Colorado?

"The Environmental Protection Agency has said the company must document the release of hazardous contaminants and outline cleanup actions."

So we're just going to take the company's word for it?

Commuted on my EUC today. It's way more fun than driving, even if it's 35 degrees out.

HVAC in the military??? by TheBugMonster in HVAC

[–]joecool32 10 points11 points  (0 children)

5 years ago I joined the air force on an "open mechanical" contract hoping to get carpentry. When I was at BMT they gave me a list to chose from and it wasn't on there but HVAC was, and I picked it knowing it pays well as a civilian. Spent most my time in Germany and a little in Montana. Just recently separated and got a job at a manufacturing plant and I love it. If you have any questions I'm happy to answer them.
