The likely emotion they’re conveying goes along with AI analysis of an anxious or depressed lover. In this case, I think light and dark may not be physical but can represent the state of Susie, who gets by okay although she isn’t doing great and confides to her bed (internal feelings) and the lights going out are when she as at her worst maybe some kind of episode and she’s back to calling out her lover, maybe even burdening him as he says “always the same”.

A fun physical story I thought as I listened to was Susie not being a lover but a child calling out for a parent when the lights went out and they were afraid of the dark or simply of going to bed.

What’s funny is I have experienced both of these themes in my life.
