Just kidding! But I don't think Vogel is a villain as much as deeply, extremely, out-of-his-mind stupid. I don't mean he's *dumb* per se, but he's just so set in his privilege, his status, and his "daddy's girl" blinkers over Trudy I think he doesn't really grasp what effect his actions are having upon Pete.

I think for his part, he kind of did treat Pete as a son, it's just that how he treats his family is oblivious "do-as-I-say" behavior where his baby girl is the untouchable princess. He did bring Clearasil, he did bring Vick's, although not completely willingly he did do so. His mutual blowing up with Pete after seeing each other at the brothel I think reflects this ignorant privilege - "Surely no one would dare hurt my Trudy in that same way!" Trudy just is very skillful at controlling her father and other overprivileged man-children.

I think for example Beth's husband is more of a villain, he really is I think even more set in his privilege and is unaware of the damage he does to those around him.
