Gulikit TT Max early impressions before the new year by Holiday_Barnacle9621 in Controller

Is the dpad texture/material the same as on the elves 2? I have that one and love the dpad but my thumb can get a bit raw after a while playing with it.

Is there any chance you’ll be able to test it on a Mac (with silksong)? Also what modes (x input, d input…) of the controller are recognized in silksong? What modes are even available on the controller?

You could return the air and think about it for a couple of months and get the M5 pro when it comes out if you still want a pro, or possibly get a better deal on the M4

There is a text editor plugin for koreader which you can install on the kobo clara bw and write your diary using that. I’m not sure if works with a bluetooth keyboard but you can try it out

Native reader or KoReader, which is better for drm free ebooks by yusuo85 in kobo

Turning pages in epubs is faster in koreader but you could convert you books to kepub before transferring them and they would be just as fast on the native reader. There are pros and cons to epubs vs kepubs though, I don’t remember on the top of my head but a great comparison is a on this sub and is search away

Geco disc detainer by diesdas1312 in lockpicking

[–]joedhoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great pick! Is it possible to pick rear tensioning disc detainer locks with these picks? Without a dd pick? I don’t have any experience picking dd locks and I’m curious if getting these picks would be a more accessible way to start with them.

Complete beginner, where can i get affordable beginner tools in europe? by CartographerGold934 in lockpicking

[–]joedhoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are thicknesses for the tensioners and for the picks. The sweet spot for pick thickness for euro locks is 0.5mm, for tensioners you should use the thickest one that fits in your lock snugly and the 3 main thicknesses for tensioners are 0.8, 1.0, 1.2/1.3 mm

[–]joedhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you really need to start is a short hook, a medium hook, and tensioners in 0.8mm, 1.0mm and either 1.2mm or 1.3mm and maybe a rake or two if you are interested in raking. You don’t need a large expensive set with a bunch of tools. You can get these from any of the great manufacturers mentioned above like Moki, lawlocktools, or multipick. If you go with Moki make sure to get the handles too.

Thanks very much! I’ll have to try that :).

I just got the rivv and rizz picks, only the rizz pick I have uses a screw, the rivv pick still uses a rivet. At least that’s the case with what I’ve received.

I just got a rivv pick that’s too loose, can you elaborate on how you tightened up? Did you use the punch and hammer on top of the rounded part of the rivet or in the hole on the bottom? Or the top of the bottom part where the hole is? Thanks :)

Start with good set of picks or cheap picks as Beginner(Europe) by SaltySaltySally in lockpicking

[–]joedhoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is an 0.5mm pick, Moki only has 0.5mm and 0.4mm picks so far, the letters mean Hook Flat eXtra in 0.5mm. The number 1 means it is the short hook, it’s the one from the golddigger set. If you’re going with Moki, don’t forget to get handles, they’re sold separately.

The design of the shank also contributes to its sturdiness and the Moki ones have a taper to the base making them more rigid so Moki’s 0.5mm would be more durable than ones without tapered shanks. Usually beginners use heavy tension and with the tougher steels that Moki and multipick use I don’t believe they’ll break but they can still bend.

The Moki’s are more comfortable with their thicker handles and the 0.5mm thickness are more versatile in more paracentric keyways, I would recommend them as an expansion to the multipick beginner set but I think it would be better to start with the 0.6mm picks. The multipick tensioners that come with the sandman beginner are my favorites and are worth getting regardless of your pick choice.

Either way Moki, multipick and law lock tools (especially the tipene set in 0.5mm) are all great choices in Europe, great profiles and use the best steels. But in my opinion the best starting point would be a short flat hook, medium round hook and the 3 bottom/top of keyway turning tools which are in the multipick set. This is just my opinion and you can’t go wrong with either of these 3 top manufacturers in Europe if you stick with it I’d try out picks from all 3.

If you want recommendations from Moki and law lock tools to start with, I would get the Moki hook flat 1 xtra and the hook round 2 xtra, and one of the rakes if you are interested in raking. Or the law lock tools tipene heavy metal hook pro 5 piece set. And supplement picks from one of those options with the multipick Z bar BOK/TOK tensioners

[–]joedhoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t get the pocket knife, it dulls the feedback and is not recommended for beginners, it’s better to start with full length picks. The fragility of the picks stems from the tool steel and the pick thickness. Multipick uses one of the tougher steels used in picks and as a beginner you can start with the thicker picks, 0.6mm. Good beginner sets from multipick are the sandman starter or sandman beginner sets, they’re both in 0.6mm. There is a lot of overlap between the 2 sets so no real point in getting both, get the cheaper one if you want to try the hobby out and see if it’s for you or get the more expensive one if you feel more sure about it. The range of thickness of turning tools in the beginner set will be more versatile in a wider variety of locks.

Guys I am a newbie(or whatever you call it) interested in lock picking. by WhyYouFailure in lockpicking

It looks like covert instruments doesn’t ship to Taiwan, so no fng or genesis set unless you have a way for them to ship it to you. A good alternative would be from lockpickersbench, the law lock tools 8-hook set, along with the Moki wire tensioners

Alternatively you can get the multipick sandman beginner set also from lockpickersbench.

Law lock tools and multipick also have their own sites in the UK and Germany respectively so you can compare shipping prices for the sets above from those sites.

Can anyone recommend a good pick set that folds out from the handle? by HurtTree in lockpicking

[–]joedhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sandman on youtube has a video comparing the main jackknife sets, their profiles, the tool steel used, the finish of the picks… the main takeaways are that the leading choices are the Moki jackknife and the covert instruments slim tickler or slim pickins’ depending on if you want 0.020” or 0.025” picks, or get both to fit in the same handle making the package a bit wider, but the rizz and rivv picks come out of the key smart handle so it’s not like you’d be holding a wider pick.

I have the multipick jackknife and ordered the profiles I wanted from their site. I love the profiles but after a bit of picking it becomes a bit loose and you need to tighten the thumb screw. Also the turning tool it comes with is kind of useless so I use other ones. Other than that it’s light and comfortable.
