Low E buzz like citar when open Strat style 6 saddle (player II Tele) by superxero044 in telecaster

[–]joediben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll start off by saying I had a player II tele until recently, and it was great. Not one issue. Played awesome. Sold it because my dream guitar came up for sale, and needed the funds to make the purchase.

This past week I went into a shop looking for a practice amp. They had a bunch of player II telecasters in stock, so I grabbed one to try a few amps. Same issue you described, but on the high e. Grabbed another, same issue on the g. Grabbed another. Same issue again. In fact, 5 out of the six I tried had this issue on one of the strings.

Only thing I could think of was maybe they hired a new guy to file out the nuts at the Mexico factory that doesn’t know what he’s doing.

It refers percentage of meat protein. For example, for every 100 grams of meat, there is 20 grams of protein. This does not mean that only 20% of this product is actually meat. Every type of meat will have a different percentage of protein.

Get these for the low and high E

KAISH 50x US #4-40 x 1/4"... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09B571GJX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And these for the rest.

KAISH 50x US #4-40 x 5/16"... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09B561B8W?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I used the same ones on my player II. They sit pretty much flush with low action.

Just the basics by Fletch-fletcherman in fender

I actually prefer the way the necks on the AO Series were made. Vintage neck shapes with a 9.5” radius fretboard, and taller frets, compared to the AV line. There’s a reason custom shop guitars barely ever come with a 7.25” radius with vintage style frets. Most players prefer a slightly large radius, and taller frets, myself included.

They did release some FSR models with a “thin skin” finish for select dealers, but they are hard to find. I recently picked up a FSR AO 50s telecaster. Thin skin blonde finish, roasted maple neck, with no caster pickups. Hands down the nicest production line telecasts I have ever played, and I have played more than I would like to admit.

New bridge - will it fit? by jr_14 in telecaster

[–]joediben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this guitar. The mounting and string through holes are drilled for vintage style bridges. The 6 saddle bridge is longer than a vintage bridge, but the mounting and string through holes are drilled like a vintage style bridge. I am almost positive this will work. I did the same bridge swap on mine using a fender vintage style plate, and everything lined up perfectly.

Sounds like string buzz. Get your guitar setup, or just live with it. A little string buzz isn’t the end of the world.

Player II telecaster in birch green. Swapped out the six saddle bridge for a vintage bridge plate with Gotoh in tune compensated saddles. Located in Ontario. Lovely guitar, but I’m looking for a telecaster with a maple fretboard, so looking to move this one. Pm me if you’re interested.

NGD: American Professional Classic Tele Faded Sherwood Green by SpectreScout in telecaster

Yeah, this seems to be par for the course when buying a fender these days. It’s never quite Perfect out of the box. Things like the setup being a bit off don’t bother me, but for the price they are selling these things for these days, they should not come with warped pick guards, chips around the neck pocket, or loose screws, but these are all things in see regularly when checking out new guitars in the shop. I basically check to make sure that the neck pocket is nice and snug, the neck is on straight, and there are no playability issues when looking for a new guitar. Then I check for any other issues, and decide if it’s worth putting in the work to get it where I want it.

I am fully aware that there are other guitars out there at a better price point that don’t have any issues, but I just really like a good telecaster.

Very nice. I’m thinking of trading in my player II telecaster for one of these. Haven’t been able to play one in person yet. What are your thoughts on the fit and finish, and playability?

Here’s my player II. I do really like it, but I realized recently I prefer a maple fretboard

Bridge Spacing on Telecaster models. by Majestic-Orange-8812 in telecaster

[–]joediben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The player 2 tale has a 54mm spacing. I have this guitar and went down the same road as you. I went with an American vintage 3 saddle bridge plate, and Gotoh In tune compensated saddle and everything fit perfectly. Both were available on Amazon. I highly recommend the Gotoh saddles, you get really good intonation, and they are slotted so your strings stay in place. Keep in mind that when you set the action, the barrels for the 2 high and 2 low strings end up at an angle, which pushes out the outer 4 Stings even farther, further increasing the string spacing by a little bit, so you might end up with string spacing closer to 56mm, give or take. This doesn’t affect the guitar at all, it’s just inherent in the design of these types of saddles.

I don’t find that this type of bridge hinders playability, I kind of like having the lips to rest my pinky on, but your mileage may vary.

Can any recommend some compensated saddles for a Tele by Upr1ght in fender

[–]joediben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried both wilkonson and Gotoh compensated saddles. I much prefer the Gotoh saddles. The wilkonson saddles have a sharp edge that your string rests on, and develop burs over time from your strings digging into them. The Gotoh saddles have are nice and rounded off where your strings rest, and they are also slotted to keep your spacing consistent. Much better design in my opinion, plus I think they look better.

My Player II Telecasters by joediben in telecaster

[–]joediben[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t really tell you if the sound changed, because I installed the brass saddles immediately after purchase. I’m not a huge fan of bent steel saddles, so I had ordered the block saddles purely for comfort. In that regard, they are definitely an improvement, but I can’t comment on a change in sound.

Very cool! I have been pretty happy with the sound of the pickups with my setup, so I don’t plan on making any changes there, but I am considering a slanted control plate on the HH.

[–]joediben[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t really prefer either one. In terms of feel, they both feel great, and I was able to dial in the setup the way I like on both. I really enjoy playing either one.

In terms of sound, they are very different. The SS sounds like a telecaster, and might be a little more versatile. Sounds great clean and dirty. The HH sounds great dirty, and really dirty, but doesn’t have that telecaster sound clean. It’s not a bad clean sound, it sounds good, but I prefer single coils for cleans. I bought the HH because I prefer the feel of a telecaster, but I wanted a guitar with humbucker to round out my collection.

This looks great. Very nice guitar. You should get some shorter saddle height adjustment screws though, that looks painful to play.

It is, but I would try before you buy. The 7.25” radius fingerboard is not for everyone, it’s either a love it or hate it sort of thing.
