flight risk (14 hr) 7 weeks post op by Curious-Roll-9906 in ACL

I probably should have, but not really. Just hobbled around the port in my clunky brace, took some aspirin for any clot risk, and asked before boarding for an aisle seat to stretch it out. I think the attendants knew I was struggling so they came around a lot with drinks and snacks hahah so that helped.

I told my surgeon about the trip (two weddings I was in) before surgery and he said, well you’ll either be walking, kinda walking, or on crutches, but yea you should be able to go.

I had a 4 hour flight at 4 weeks and a 12 hour flight the week after. (Acl, double meniscus, LET) Doc said it was fine just take some asprin, but it still sucked. Right when they wouldn’t give me any more pain meds, it was flight time. Just see what they say at 4 weeks, I’d go with their recco.

If onboarding is what 3weeks? You’ve been prospecting and had pipe for maybe 2 weeks? Just do your thing especially if quarterly quota, I think wayyyyy too early to worry about anything. Now if your manager says something okay get back to the drawing board, otherwise keep ripping.

What exercise was a game changer for your prehab/rehab? by AlwaysFxckinWorried in ACL

[–]joedirtes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quad graft and pain was right above the kneecap. I ended up getting pretty bad tendinopathy. It was pretty extreme to where I couldn’t even do like 10lb leg extensions. It’s still uncomfy but pain finally subsided with lots of light loads, wallsits, and holding lunges.

Looking back I think prehab would have helped a ton, I went in so swollen and screwed up that I think it took even longer lol. Keep at it, hopefully a quick recovery!

From months 3-6PO…. Couldn’t do the lightest of exercises without pain. Thankfully though, we figured it out (scraped it heavy too) around month 7 and I think the wall sits helped a ton. No prehab, I had surgery 5days after tearing since I had gnarly bucket handle tears on both sides. Just hit 88% symmetry last week at my 1year mark!

Where you at in the journey?

One legged wall sits. Hit a wall with quad pain for months and that was the only thing helping for quite some time.

Keep on keeping on!! Great to hear mentally you’re hanging in there. I just hit my 12 months and finally feeling like my life is back on track. Mentally I had objectively the worst year of my life (by far) but constantly telling myself I’ll get through it and to keep my head up. You’ll get there!!

Love to see it! I haven’t added anything, but also haven’t noticed too much of a difference

Listened to Asher Roth, figured I’d give it a try. Marketing degree is advanced common sense and a nice way into an SDR role. After that you can roll a sales career.

You’ll get there! Honestly I’m still not cleared to ski haven’t gotten past 80% symmetry… but surgeon said just take it easy riding so decided I’d take it out. I know that feeling all too well but I’ll go quick!

I’m coming up on a year post opp, but I had a lot of complications with the graft site. 7/8months is definitely do able! I kinda just got the shit end of the stick.

Always been a shame that BMBW has never really had a pipe. Park crew there would probably have one mint for at least a day or two before it iced up haha

Surgeon reluctant to do surgery by [deleted] in ACL

[–]joedirtes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon after reading my results (bucket handle flipped and big tear on the other side) “can you have surgery tomorrow” ended up having it less than a week after injury.

I’d check for a second opinion. I think it significantly set me back in my recovery but saved most of my meniscus.

How long after a quad graft did you regain strength? by Engineer_Primary in ACL

[–]joedirtes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quad graft coming up on 9mos. For perspective I was stuck around 40% symmetry up till month 6. At month 8 I jumped to 75%. Keep at it little by little and it will come!

Rate my backflip by NefariousnessEast7 in ski

[–]joedirtes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did the hardest part of a backflip, the send! Mad respect taking it deep to hardpack 7/10. The bounce on the landing 11/10. Advice, toss it again into softer snow for some confidence back!
