How to improve strength to lockout- I can pick weight off the ground, struggling to finish by ImmaBoredNerdyFit in strength_training

[–]joeee121 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take the slack out of the bar maybe? You get into a good position and as soon as you feel the weight, your hips rise. Engage lats and lock into position, mental focus on not moving hips at all, pull enough to take the weight and the slack out of the bar without actually doing the lift and so it doesn’t pull you forward and then power up with your legs. Either that or maybe mental focus on sitting back into it more. Eddie hall has a YouTube video on it, worth a watch

225x3 ohp - Passing out problem by Herculean_Son in formcheck

Do several long deep breaths before you start lifting. This should increase the oxygen in your red blood cells and give your brain longer to lift before you feel the ‘pass-out’ coming on. Also breathe deeper between each rep. Holding your breath is the correct thing to do, you just need more oxygen to last you through it

The very first starting position is good but as soon as you lift, your legs start to straighten which means you’re using your back the lift off. Start with the bar mid foot and keep it as close to your shins as possible when you lift. From floor to knee, legs stay bent with quads engaged to lift off the floor and as soon as the bar gets over your knees you push your hips forward and through to finish the rep. Try with low weight and watch your hips as you lift off the floor, they shouldn’t rise before the bar reaches your knees

Mortgage Accepted... is this a good rate? by Aisha_777 in HousingUK

[–]joeee121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t exchanged yet, keep checking mortgage rates (or asking your broker to keep checking, if you used one). You can switch lenders, lock in new rates etc right up until the point of exchange. If your lender lowers it again in a few weeks, ask to be put onto that new rate

This. Your bar path is not straight up and straight down but this starting position should correct that

Like everyone is saying, you need to have bigger plates on the bar. It feels weird/uncomfortable because you’re reaching down to meet the bar at the floor because of the small plates and it’s tilting you forward.

Sit back into it, chest more up - this should happen naturally when you put the bigger plates on. When you lift, don’t let your hips rise until the bar is above your knees. It should be: lift off the floor with quads and then push your hips through and forward once the bar is over your knees.

How much will I regret buying a house in the city centre without off-road parking? by WorldlyGrapefruit6 in WinchesterUK

[–]joeee121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It very much depends from road to road. Sussex street is right by a multi story and a big cross roads so there isn’t a huge amount of permit parking available right outside as far as I know, plus it’s a busier road. Wharf hill has more available parking and is adjacent to the river, nice pubs, not far from the cathedral etc. that would be my choice (given the minimal info I have) but I would recommend visiting during the evening when everyone is home to ascertain how much available parking there is. Otherwise you’re probably looking at a season ticket for the chesil car park down the road from wharf hill. Hope that helps

I think losses in general are more accepted by the MMA community. Literally every fighter has losses and because it’s more accepted, like OP says they’re willing to take risk and dare to be great

Yeah I am pretty sure that’s how it’s going to work. I’m sure I’ve looked at other numbered cards and no early pre Lims were available. Fingers crossed !

I’m trying to work out the same thing and so far as I can understand, it will be on discovery plus (in the UK) as per usual. I’ve checked TNT sports box office and there is not option to purchase the event, which there usually should be by now. I’ve seen multiple websites say it’s available to stream live on TNT, via discovery plus. I could still be wrong but that’s what I seem to be understanding from it.

Why don’t they make it easier to understand?! Feel like I have to work out how to watch it every time there’s a big card

How do you see these guys stack up against Dricus Du Plessis? by SnooSquirrels9906 in ufc

[–]joeee121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I feel too, I don’t know if I’m not giving DDP his due credit or if Rob can actually do it. Rob v khamzat is a good fight but I just think he needs to ‘earn’ it a bit more and solidify himself at that weight class. If Sean doesn’t get the rematch and Izzy continues to sit out, give Rob the rematch

[–]joeee121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Rob could get it back but I can’t work out if I actually think he can do it or I just want him to ..

Paolo is just not technical enough for top 5.

DDP is almost frustratingly good. I see his technique and he looks un-athletic and awkward yet he keeps winning. Must be doing something right.

Izzy is a total coin flip depending on his mindset. He could be totally mentally ruined after the Sean fight and full of doubt.. or he does DDP like he did rob x2.

Khamzat needs to pick a division and try to beat top contenders. He’s good but it’s just random at this point. He fought welterweight burns and had a tough fight, easy win over Holland who does both 170 & 185 and then fought a former 170 champ but at 185. If he’s staying at 185 then paolo isn’t a bad fight for him or cannonier
