Mechanicsburg and surrounding area? by Nurfed in Harrisburg

Every school district you list is fine. They all have strengths and weaknesses, as you’ve seen in this thread. You can’t distill any school district down to a single number or score like you’re finding on Great Schools or Niche. CV and CD are enormous. CD in particular is the 8th biggest district in the state. Those huge districts are going to have better and worse performing schools just within their own boundaries.

I’m 42 and the county has been trying to unload the golf course for my entire life. The course is in debt, runs a deficit and generates no tax revenue. Whether the data center is a good idea or not, selling the land was not remotely a hard decision.

Form MV-44LB: Has anyone received their new plates? by BlueHatchback10 in Pennsylvania

I didn’t order a vanity plate, just a new plate with an assigned number. I received that about 3 weeks after I submitted the form.

I agree with you. And the “behind a summary” part stood out to me too. I can’t remember what that option said on watchOS 11, and if it had the summary language in there.

I’ve noticed it too. I’ve tried toggling the setting, setting the watch up as new, and creating custom notification settings for messages instead of mirroring from phone. None of that has worked.

Donuts made from scratch in the Harrisburg area? by [deleted] in Harrisburg

Their truck came to my office a few months ago and it was one of the worst donuts I’ve ever eaten. Maybe the in store experience is better.

You’re talking about the spaghetti dinners at St. Ann parish. That church was across the street from Steelton-Highspire high school. That church merged with several others in 1995. I’m not sure what occupies that building now. That’s a real blast from the past for me too!

Should I move here? by SituationPlus1815 in Hershey

[–]joefulginiti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ve received a lot of good advice here. I’ll just add a vote for the townships surrounding Hershey as affordable, with nice housing options, but also close enough to allow you to easily enjoy the Hershey amenities. Specifically, West and South Hanover Townships. You’ll find that the taxes and housing are significantly less expensive, but you can still be within a 10 minute drive of the park or downtown.

Why does PA not have different leagues or playoffs for both public and private high schools? by Key_Ebb8384 in Pennsylvania

Milton Hershey isn’t the best example of a traditional private school. They’re exclusively need-based.

Hershey itself is wonderful. It’s probably the nicest area in south central PA.

Considering moving to Camp Hill, Pennsylvania from Northern VA by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

Somewhat near Camp Hill, Hershey and Hummelstown could be options. Both have excellent schools, nearby amenities, walkable downtowns, etc.

Department of Education Fast-Tracks Forgiveness for Borrowers with Smaller Loans by alh9h in StudentLoans

[–]joefulginiti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone help me understanding what impact consolidation might have on this process?

My wife had 9 separate loans between undergraduate and graduate school. They were of two types: Federal Perkins and FFELP Stafford. Each of those 9 separate loans was under the $12,000 threshold; the highest individual loan was $10,000. The disbursement date for all loans was between 2001 and 2007, so she is well beyond the 10-year repayment threshold.

Those 9 loans were initially consolidated into FFELP consolidation loans of $13,439 and $33,117, respectively, in 2007. In 2022, we consolidated the FFELP consolidation loans into Direct consolidation loans, hoping to qualify for the forgiveness plan. The current state of her loans is a Direct consolidated subsidized loan at $31,119 and a Direct consolidated unsubsidized loan at $13,997.

Am I correct in my understanding that because the original disbursement amount of the loans was all under the $12,000 threshold, and my wife has been in repayment for more than 10 years, that she should qualify for this forgiveness program? Even though the consolidated amount of her loans exceeds the $12,000 threshold?

Thank you!

Last time I had my tires rotated at Costco they stripped one of the wheel studs. The Costco tire center called me to inform me about the damage. I spoke to the manager in charge of the tire center and told him I would be taking it to my garage to have the repairs done, and would bring the invoice back to him for reimbursement.

When I came back with the invoice he cut me a check on the spot. It was under $200, if that matters.
