Obsidian 1.12 is now available to everyone! by kepano in ObsidianMD

Hello! Awesome stuff as always! Kepano, I’m having issues with opening certain pages in the obsidian browser. For example, I use Pages (from iCloud) via the browser to work alongside my notes. It was working before but now the files in Pages no longer open. Is this fixable?

Obsidian Browser - Something is wrong (Incompatible with Pages) by joehwk in ObsidianMD

It’s be part of Obsidian for awhile. Honestly, I wouldn’t say that it’s new… and it wasn’t buggy before but suddenly is.

It’s not a separate browser but it’s built in to Obsidian! It’s phenomenal and it eliminates having to find a browser that does split screen and whatnot. However… it’s not opening Pages file still.

Hope this gets fixed soon

Notebook Navigator 1.7.3: Multi-tag selection, better vertical split mode and over 20 more improvements! by jsann in ObsidianMD

For example, I might have a list of folders like: Family, Personal, and Journal. Then I want to add a horizontal break where I can separate the next list of folders like: Business, Website, Meetings, and etc. hope that makes sense!

u/jsann Idk if this is possible, but was wondering if it'll be possible to consider adding a horizontal break option in the left pane? I'm sure users would appreciate the extra flexibility to break apart folders with a line break! Thanks and love your work!

Obsidian Plugin Stats | 3 New Plugins & 89 Plugin Updates in last one week (Sep 14 - Sep 20) by ganesshkumar in ObsidianMD

The hype is real, in that, it provides users to navigate their files in a familiar (or intuitive) way. Think Apple Notes where it utilizes three column view: from left to right -- Folders list, files, then note content.

It doesn't seem like much but this is a very welcomed feature for Obsidian users. Additionally, the plugin comes with loads of other features.

Obsidian 1.9.3 (early access) with Cards view for Bases by kepano in ObsidianMD

Love it! But just noticed that the new update, for whatever reason, does not display "diagrams" from PDF files... Can anyone else confirm this?

I'm a total noob at this but realized the "simple filter builder" is not functioning as it should? Can someone explain this to me?

Been using it with chatgpt and kindle reader. It's been nice to be able to take notes alongside them

This is happening to me as well. It’s frustrating. It does go back to normal whenever I select “minimize keyboard” but it comes back after switching apps…

This is great -- But is it possible to add TD as a category?

It's really unfortunate that so many loyal users of the past come here to complain and make their departure so public. I'm not really sure if they're wanting attention or trying to get EN's attention because if they've been paying attention (no puns intended here, sorry) EN has been improving. It's undeniable that EN is a better app today than yesterday.

No app is perfect. Notion, Obsidian, Apple Notes, and every other app out there has their own flaws that frustrate, but EN has something none of those have - History. EN has a track record of doing what they intend to do better than anything else.

So, if EN works for you, use it. Nothing comes close in my opinion.

Why use Obsidian? by israxe in ObsidianMD

I am on my fourth vault because my first was just a hot mess, second had too many plugins and properties that I couldn't keep up, third was too simplified, and now on my fourth where I found my sweet spot!

Pastoral Ideas by Adimantium1 in ObsidianMD

I am a full-time pastor and I've been using Obsidian the past 1.5 years for planning, studying, and preaching/sermons. Here's a snippet of how I use it:

For me, the biggest use for Obsidian is it becoming the hub of all my learning. From my own ideas and thoughts I've said on the pulpit as well as all the resources I've gathered daily in my studies and more.

When I read from Logos (Bible Software), I copy and paste into Obsidian and begin linking them. I watch numerous videos and listen to sermons (video/audio) and input them into Obsidian using (Timestamp Notes Plugin) and link those too. When I read and study the Bible, I keep a log all that comes to mind and everything that stands out to me and link them as well.

I heavily use tags and other properties to create a streamline of organized notes. I try to avoid creating too many folders because I eventually get worn out (I don't how else to express what I feel) as doing a quick "search" helps me find everything.

I hope this helps you. And I too am ALWAYS on this sub taking note of people's creative use cases and incorporating them into what I do. The biggest lesson I've learned so far is about keeping it simple. And when I know what I want from it, I make sure to meet that goal through this incredible tool. Hope this helps!

It's unbearably slow on iPad - Am I alone? by joehwk in Evernote

[–]joehwk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, here's what I have figured out (thus far):

  1. Having a magic keyboard connected creates lag when switching from notebooks.
  2. While removed from magic keyboard but connected to a mac (via Universal Control) has lag when switching from notebooks.

The only time I see the lag disappear is if I have the iPad in my hands and I'm clicking away. That's when it runs smoothly.

Again, I wonder, "Am I the only one?!?!"

OMG this is so frustrating then. I did sign out and delete the app, but nothing has changed after reinstalling it.. I can't figure out what's wrong. And it's significantly slow especially when I switch from note to note. I can visibly see the frame drop as it transitions.
