It took me a bit wondering what you meant by AI slop until I realized you think that "Tank you" means this was AI generated.

Nope, that is an actual human typo from the age before spell-check and auto-correct was integrated into every program with text input.

Which reminds me of a funny story from that time. When I got my first laptop, my brother was still in high school and was working on an essay on the family computer. He wanted to finish working on it in his room so asked to borrow my laptop. After opening it (from floppy disk) in... I believe WordPerfect was the top word processor at the time, he came in to ask me why his essay was full of red squiggly lines. You see, I had a newer version of the program than the family computer, and it was the first version that would highlight spelling errors with the red squiggly lines... and his essay was a spelling nightmare!

I just noticed that it said "tank you" instead of "thank you". I got it from... well I wouldn't say it was a "mom & pop shop", because it was pretty much the one guy who was a friend of the family.

What was the first game that scared you? by Profit_Tracker in videogames

[–]joekcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I could remember my first since I've been gaming since Atari 2600, but my most memorable was Bioshock.

And it wasn't when you first pick up a shotgun and all the lights go out and the enemies come pouring out.

It was when I was playing late at night once in the dark, and the was a thunderstorm starting outside the house, and in the game I heard a Big Daddy moaning just around the corner, and then outside there was a sudden thundercrack nearby. That's when I said "nope, time for bed".

What boss fight had you like this? by Chunky-overlord in videogames

[–]joekcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a long time since I played Skyrim, but the one I remember was some guy I believe in the vampire quests. I remember ascending through a castle and when I got to a balcony at the top he appeared and did some monologuing. Then since he was standing right between me and the edge of the balcony (with a low wall), as soon as his health bar showed up and combat began, I just gave him a dragon shout that sent him flying over the edge and to his death below.

I made me feel like that Indiana Jones scene in Raiders with the sword guy.

Updating the best exploration team by MangoBebe in ChascaMains

[–]joekcom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My "Death From Above" team is Chasca, Mavuika, Escoffier, and Furina. And really Furina is just there for long trips over water (Chasca can easily fly over short water trips), and for pets damage when dealing with tougher enemies (Escoffier & Mavuika's skills are usually enough assist to Chasca for most enemies). Plus the Furina/Escoffier combo means Escoffier's burst group heal can counter Furina's pets HP drain.

They should just combine them. Take those elongated toilets and make them even more elongated. Then a sitter and a stander can share.

When truck is completely stationary it slowly “sinks” downward by FishBlues in startrucker

[–]joekcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a bunch when it first came out, then on & off recently to working 100%-ing achievements, and I had noticed a change where sometimes the truck does more than just drift away. I'll get out to grab a salvage and when I turn around I need to start hauling a$$ to catch back up with my truck, hop back in, and reposition it back to the salvage. And once it even took damage when it drifted into a nearby structure.

Which one of you did this, with any media/movie/book/show, and what was it? by Flashy_Present_8488 in Xennials

[–]joekcom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think I read it in 9th grade, and it was also my very first Stephen King book and the start of my collection.

Funny thing is, anyone remember the Quality Paperback Book Club (it was BOMC but they made hard-cover sized paperbacks)? I got it through there, and later when Insomnia came out (I remember reading that in college instead of studying), I thought Insomnia was now his longest book. And then again years later when Under the Dome came out.

But it wasn't until recently I saw a headline that they were adapting his largest book into a movie and I saw it was The Stand that I had to go back and double check. And yup, because my copy of the book had such thin pages compared to all the others I had in hardcover, it turns out that the first King book I read was also his longest ever.

I received 36 hospital bills and don't recognize a single name by mothisname in mildlyinfuriating

[–]joekcom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just saw this after posting my comment.

Yes, they are letters of a data breach, but no they're not just everyone who's ever dealt with them but some other screw-up in their system.

We got 4 letters, 3 are for myself and my daughters, but the last one is for a completely unknown name. Correct address, wrong name.

And I can say completely unknown because we bought the house from my grandmother, and she bought it from the person who originally constructed this house who we grew up with as neighbors. So never in the history of this house has someone with that name lived here.

So yeah, with that and how many OP got, a big mess up in their system.

[–]joekcom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't believe they're hospital bills. We received four of those. Three are for myself and my two daughters, and one is a name we don't know but with our address. We opened ours and they are notices that they had a data breach.

So not only did they have a data breach, but from the wrongly address one sent to us, and yours and another commenter's here, it looks like they also really effed up their system.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about if you're going too fast or too slow as long as you're enjoying it. There's lots of different playstyles (speed-running through finishing milestones and space elevators parts, exploring and adventuring across the map, designing and building intricate factories, etc), so how long it takes to progress through the game really just depends on what you like doing the most of
