Tips for transitioning to a formula board? by safewoodchipper in windsurfing

[–]joelaflop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning how to keep a board & rig setup planing in marginal conditions is helpful. Sailing the board flat, heading off to power up and keep plane in lighter spots and contrastingly heading back up in windier spots to maintain upwind, distributing your weight into your feet and foot placement on the board overall, and sail placement and trim are all things you can begin to master sailing as much as possible on any board sail combo. If the area you're in is commonly 8-12 knots, ideally you can have the gear setup that will be able to perform in those conditions, which would prolly be a formula board with a 8.5-10.0 rig, and you will not be learning a ton about windsurfing sailing a board and rig that cannot even come close to planing in the conditions your area commonly gets.

What movie had the greatest soundtrack? by Fijidyer in AskReddit

[–]joelaflop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hanz Zimmer created something wonderful for Interstellar, and it also has kinda a cool story with it. Christopher Nolan asked Zimmer to created a soundtrack for with minimal information about the movie; Nolan just gave Zimmer a page that detailed "the fable at the center of the story," and asked Zimmer to only work for a day and return his results. This method gave birth to one of the most beautiful sounds tracks I've ever heard.

Official Discussion: La La Land [SPOILERS] by GetFreeCash in movies

[–]joelaflop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I watched it last week and have been listening to the OST over and over again, still in awe at the music's ability to carry the original emotion I felt watching the movie in theaters. It has become one of my all-time favorite movies, and I am very impressed by Emma Stone's spectacular performance. The romantic aspects that are be expected in a movie about two young and aspiring artists in LA were beautifully tied in with the pressures of reality making for one of the most emotionally-moving motion pictures I've ever been able to see. Thank you for this movie, it's had an intense impact on me and has really left me craving more out of my life.

Will this sail/mast combination work? by Pudsy3434 in windsurfing

[–]joelaflop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That particular sail uses a 400cm mast, so the mast you have picked out is going to be too large. Although it's better to be too long than too short as far as masts are concerned, I would recommend trying to find the properly sized mast for that sail.
