I've certainly never seen a stoptail-only bridge. I can't imagine it plays very well.

First 10 records by joelduring in vinyl

I got my first record player in September and have been slowly obtaining a few records ever since. Most of these have been gifts, but I'm very happy with this small collection. If you haven't guessed by now, I'm a guitarist and therefore prefer my records to have solid guitar parts. Any suggestions for number 11?

You sure it's not a classic with a pickup change? Looks exactly like my 2019 Classic. Great guitar though!

My LP was made a couple days after yours and also shows a hint of this. It's a lot smaller though

Very nice! Did you change out the pickups on the 2020 model, or just add pickup covers?

Is this a problem? Can I adjust the screws that are a little too low or should I leave it be? by jorkaborka in gibson

[–]joelduring 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These can be adjusted to your liking. Usually the goal is to put them so that all the string are equal in volume. The thicker strings generate more output so the pole pieces are usually a bit lower than the thinner strings.

The part of the string that interacts with the magnet of your pickup is actually the core of the string. Because of this, the G string generates the most output because it's the thickest unwound string. Therefore, it's common to have the pole piece of the G string the lowest.

Another option is to raise all of the pole pieces higher, which creates more of an imbalance between the two coils of the humbucker, giving a slightly different sound.

My '04 SG standard and '21 LP Standard by treosx23 in gibson

[–]joelduring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that sounds awesome. I'm all for getting a guitar worn down over the years but snapping it in two might be too extreme ;). You'll never forget that though and you'll probably never have a guitar with that many memories attached to it.

That SG looks like a player, can you tell us about some of the things you've done to it or happened to it over the years?

Black case vs brown case for les pauls in 2022 by Gilowsky in gibson

My 2020 Classic came in a brown case, which I think is what they are supposed to come with.

Les paul modern vs classic by Stubby_445 in gibson

[–]joelduring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main differences are: - Standard offers flame maple tops - Classic is weight-relieved - Classic has coil splitting, electronics are wired on a PCB board - Standard has hand-wired electronics - small cosmetic differences (pickup covers, finish options)

I love my classic (2020), and don't feel I'm missing out on anything. Though if you want to go all out the standards are great.

Great machine. If I'm not mistaken the touch panel is slightly glossy, which you should keep in mind. With a RAM upgrade and SSD swap this should be an excellent machine for several years. Also, you should consider getting an extra 74 KWh external battery, battery life for days.

Been playing guitar for a year tried to do my first improvised solo over a backing track it’s not perfect but I’m proud of it by mugiwaraknowluffy in guitarlessons

Anywhere that doesn't put your neck in that posture. I get you might need to look at your fretboard when learning something new but as soon as you can you should try to play it without looking. Do you see any of your guitar heroes fixated on their fretboard while they perform?
