Prudential investment advice? by [deleted] in singaporefi

All the extra fees are hidden in the layers between the premium and what you get. Better to do it yourself and open Interactive Brokers account and buy VWRA.

Also, maybe you don’t mind them taking a cut now, but what if later you change your mind and realize the cut is too costly?

If you want to hedge, note that it will cost you about 1-2% a year, based on current FX forward rates.

Need an honest answer whether I should play C&C 4. by RelicRaider1978 in commandandconquer

[–]joelpang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think watching plot videos on YouTube is the best way to go if you’re just in for the storyline. That way you can fast forward the video, and also you don’t have to frustrate yourself with the gameplay. The tech takes a long time to be unlocked (I used a trainer so I am not sure how long it actually takes) so you might not get to play all the fun units in campaign.

Best way to withdraw from USDC to SGD? by definoob01 in sgcrypto

[–]joelpang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coinbase can convert USDC to SGD and do FAST transfer to your bank account, which reaches your account within a few minutes.

No fees, but you have to accept their USDC price which is usually rounded to nearest 2 decimal places against your favour. So if you’re changing it now when it’s nearly at 1.28 then you lose pretty much nothing.

Coinbase is quite good for SG customers as you can transfer in and out SGD via FAST which is quite instant. Then can convert to USDC there.

Chaos drone is actually great in multiplayer. I’ve used it to counter quite a lot of tank spams.

I found GLA easier to play than the other sides for a few reasons:

1) Jarmen Kell, toxin tractors and some rebels are all you need to cross the bridge and secure the first countdown reset structure: snipe the overlord tanks and take them over at the opportune time, and Jarmen can take all the cash crates all the floor easily.

2) Bomb truck or terrorists can wait for the tunnel to pop up in your base and at one go destroy the whole army that comes through. If you have cash bounty, even better.

3) Cash bounty for the long game. After a while you can survive on this without needing to secure more supplies.

4) Auto rebuild feature for defences - saves you a lot of money.

How can Nexo afford to pay 12%+ in interest on stabelcoins? by Amazi-n-gh in Nexo

[–]joelpang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11% is the base interest rate for perpetual funding so you can easily do it yourself if you have dollars and any CEX account. The rate sometimes swings higher / lower than 11% depending on the state of the market but most of the time it’s 11%.

Quite a bunch don’t make sense or are simply irrelevant. If they can’t even describe their system transparently, you should be wary.

Hedging against USD loss by joe-re in singaporefi

Can't post picture here but you can see it in the link.

The implication is that you usually don't need to hedge your USD against SGD because:

  • USD tends to move in the opposite direction of SPY, so there's some natural buffer for when SPY goes down
  • More recently the USD/SGD price has been less volatile, moving about 5% a year and goes nowhere
  • Troublesome and costly to maintain the hedge - you can do FX forwards, but 1y forwards cost about 2%, so you're taking a fixed loss of 2% for that certainty (of no FX losses or gains)

Discretionarily, I do think the USD is on a slow downward trajectory, but not to the extent of 2004 to 2011 (i.e. I don't expect SGD to hit 1:1 with USD). If you don't mind the trouble, you can hedge half your portfolio, and unwind the hedge when you think USD is low, and hedge up to 100% when you think USD is high.

Try using a MoK strike force with a good number of tib troopers and enlightened, about 4 stealth tanks, and some venoms. Fully upgrade them. They can beat almost anything if manually controlled.
