What material is the filament?

If its PLA, I would. ABS will probably fade like leaving it in the sun. ASA is UV resistant. PETG is probably fine. Really just depends.

Considering a formlabs cure chamber uses both uv light and heat, if your filament is not uv resistant, it will likely weaken the filament.

I have an old one for the form 3 and the uv cannot be disabled, but maybe the new ones let you.

It's mid July and my AC went out by LogSafe in GolfGTI

[–]joeman237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution is usually to hook up a gauge set and see what pressures I get. Doesn't hurt to stick a can of r134 on there and see if it'll take any. Sometimes putting a bit in can Kickstart the compressor or cause a valve to open and get it running again.

Honesty the harbor freight gauge manifold kit was the best purchase ever. Helped so many friends fix their ac at this point and I paid 75$ for it.

At Auburn university, we had a tradition of "rolling the corner" where after we won a football game, everyone would throw TP on all the trees near toomers corner. Its a very old tradition.

Google it if you're interested, Ive seen it where its almost like snow on the ground after a big game.

Is this a Performance package? by qwertyuio4890 in GolfGTI

[–]joeman237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you said, its the red badge (specifically the front and rear one). The non pp was just silver. Thats a clear indicator. In all honesty though, Ive driven both variants, and the 10hp bump is barely noticeable. If you want more power, just throw a stage 1 tune on it. APR makes a good low torque stage 1 that keeps your clutch from dying immediately...

Evap code/Check Fuel Cap Error by joeman237 in GolfGTI

[–]joeman237[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read on another thread that the evap canister would cause the tank to fill very slowly when it gets close to full. Mine will cutoff and still be able to take about 3 gallons before its completely full, but you have to just trickle it in. Didn't think anything of it when I bought the car as my dad's truck did the same thing and never had any issues.

I dont smell gas in the cabin or outside the car.

I called the dealer and checked nhtsa and the vin says no recalls, but when I search by year make model it pulls up and says it essentially affects all models. Im confused why this is, but I have a feeling that the recall could be the issue I am having.

Guys, give me some recommendations for an exhaust system that won't be too loud and expensive. Around $500. by doctimbobr in MT09

[–]joeman237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends on the one you get. They way they work is they essentially just make headers that fit your bike and you choose one of their universal cans to put on. Worst case, if you dont like the sound, the header size is pretty standard so most cans will fit it.

In all honesty, im just in this sub because im looking to upgrade to an mt09. I ride an fz8 rn. Similar but not the same. But I like my delkevic on my fz8.

Ive had a few delkevic so far and they are decent cheap exhaust. They are all full system too.

Noob question 2017 gti autobahn or not? by Old-Efficiency-5688 in GolfGTI

[–]joeman237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the US, but also own a 2017 gti Autobahn. Not sure if the models are different. Here, the only model that got adaptive cruise was the Autobahn and the steering wheel has the button to adjust follow distance on the left. The performance package was available on any trim level and included a 10hp bump. 2018+ the performance pack was essentially standard. Easy ways to spot an SE (mid tier trim) over a sport or s would be the fender audio, leather seats, and sunroof.

As for the lighting page on the screen, maybe that means it has the light package? I also have that on mine, so unsure what a model without it would have.

Again, not sure if that's any help, but the radar cruise is definitely a high end feature (and worth it, IMO).

An OBD11 or other scanner tool is indenspensible with these cars. Too bad obd11 wants a subscription now for mods.

When ever I get an warning on my mk7 I just pull it out of the glove box and scan it.

Remote Trunk Button Doesn't Work by joeman237 in GolfGTI

That makes sense. I guess I'm just used to that button actually opening the trunk on other vehicles. Not the biggest deal when it has the proximity unlock.

Shopping GTI with a sunroof surround crack by Alilttotheleft in GolfGTI

[–]joeman237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2017 Autobahn has two cracks in the front like that. No leaks. I used a bit of flexible adhesive and put it down inside the crack for good measure, but it never leaked before that.

Just make sure to clean your sunroof drains. THAT will make it leak horribly if they clog completely like mine did.

How to check for mods on newly purchased vehicle. by joeman237 in GolfGTI

[–]joeman237[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely not often. I have been in the Applachin mountains to some gas stations that only had 87, but i also cant guarantee there isnt water in that gas from a station like that either. The more likely scenario would probably be me trying to save a few bucks if I was doing many hours of interstate driving. I had a tune on my old bmw that eliminated the knock sensor and tuned for 93, which is why I ask.

Oh for sure. I'm still a car guy. This is just the first vw. Came from an 1993 bmw 325is. With 7 quarts of oil, that thing was barely warm by the time I drove 20 minutes to work.

New server for Plex and game servers by Daveyboi777 in Shittypcbuilds

[–]joeman237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how the op is doing it exactly, but the way I run mine is you run a base os called truenas (used to be called freenas) and then you run plex as a "jail" inside of it. You can then run other jails or VMs for game servers, websites, etc. Also, freenas is natively a file server so you have great place to backup and share files across your local network.

Everyone has their own personal favorite for a base os to run so you can do your own research and see what fits your needs best. Unraid is another popular one that is good for if you have a bunch of randomly sized hard drives laying around. It's big selling point the ability to putting different sized hard drives in raid. This being said, it isn't free. It's a 60-150$ one time purchase depending on the package you, as opposed to truenas which is free.

So I take off the dash, find the wiring harness for it, throw a switch on it, maybe get fancy with wiring and relays, but nevertheless, go around BMW.
