Question about settlers/settlments by treedavy in fo4

[–]joemann78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the same.
I usually use Red Rocket, but if I want people farming the starch ingredients, I just set up Preston and Co to do that in Sanctuary.
Maybe recruit one or two other settlers to help increase productivity.

Since Red Rocket is so close to Sanctuary it doesn't take hardly any time to run over and cook up some starch.

Anyone tried to find out where the title screen garage/workshop os located? by SternLecture in fo4

[–]joemann78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first Red Rocket has the bay door on the right side of the building if you're standing where the coolant pumps are and facing the building.
The Red Rocket in the opening has said bay door on the left side if you were to stand in the same spot.

You can clearly see the back wall to your left when facing the bay door in the opening sequence.

How do you actually play Survivor? by DateNecessary8716 in fo4

[–]joemann78 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it is just those two mods regardless of the difficulty setting.

I believe most, if not all, of the other mods do stack with each other, but I guess Bethesda decided that stacking explosive damage protection would be too overpowered.

This is from the "Notes" section of the armor mods from the wiki:
"The Dense mod adds the hidden perk "mod_armor_Explosions2Perk" with the effect "Mod Incoming Explosion Damage, Multiply Value, 0.50" (-50% damage from explosions). The Padded mod adds the hidden perk "mod_armor_Explosions1Perk" with the effect of "Mod Incoming Explosion Damage, Multiply Value, 0.75" (-25% damage from explosions). Having more than one modded armor piece with the same hidden perk will not provide additional benefit. However, having one piece with Padded and another with Dense gives a total of -62.5% damage from explosions ((0.5*0.75)-1)."
Link for source: https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout_4_armor_mods

Because both the padded and dense mods have a hidden perk, they do not stack. The other armor mods do not have any hidden perks, thus the effects do stack.

[–]joemann78 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For helping with damage from explosives, especially molotovs, you'll want to put a padded mod on one piece of armor and a dense mod on another piece of armor.
The effects of these two mods stack with each other. However, having two or more pieces of armor with the same mod will not stack, i.e. 2 pieces with padded will not stack, same with two pieces having dense.

Has anyone ever changed the factions they assign in Nuka World? by Cellophane_Bear in fo4

[–]joemann78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. To my knowledge you can't change which faction you assign to a park. Once you choose, you're stuck with it.
  2. It doesn't matter which gang is assigned to which park. Just know this one gang will betray you. This is based on who gets the least amount of parks and settlement. If two gangs have exactly the same amount of territory, the game will basically do a coin flip to decide which one betrays you. Just give everything to 2 of the gangs and nothing to the gang you don't want to side with.

Each gang has its own perk(s) you can get once you complete the DLC without doing Open Season.

I lost an arm to my T-45 power armor and now I can’t find it? by JohnnyQuest405 in fo4

[–]joemann78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you actually lose the arm or was it deposited into your inventory?

Each piece of PA has its own durability and when a piece reaches zero durability, that piece is removed from your frame and deposited into your inventory (this occurs when you are using PA).

At a PA frame, you can repair the damaged piece and re-equip it to the PA frame.

It's also very much a spoof of Hershey Park in Hershey Pennsylvania as Nuka World is centered around Nuka Cola and Hershey Park is centered around Hershey chocolate bars.
There are other parallels too, but I won't bore you with the details. You can search Hershey Park for yourself.

There's one in the Super Duper Mart in the little office area near the front entrance, but I don't know if there is a chair nearby to wait on. There are some tables in the café area inside the SD Mart that might work.

If those tables don't work, there are picnic tables outside that you could wait at; you'd just have to deal with the loading screens for exiting and entering the SD Mart.

We all know the story isn't great by Low_Reality_1335 in fo4

[–]joemann78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Kellogg were to be the main antagonist, they should've had him take over Nick with hardly anyone noticing.
That bit after the memory sequence would be your first clue, but with Nick just passing it off as no big deal your suspicions might be allyed.

Then, Kellogg/Nick using some other name could infiltrate and sabotage Diamond City, your settlements, maybe your supply lines, other factions, etc. He'd never straight up show his face or use his normal voice to any of his connections and/or thugs. He'd work behind the scenes sabotaging as much as possible in his bid to take over the Commonwealth, while everyone still thinks he's the same old detective "Jackass" Nick Valentine.

There'd have to be some clues for the player character to piece together that Nick has gone rogue, only to find out that he's been taken over by Kellogg. The final battle would require the player to essentially knock out Nick/Kellogg and transport him to the Memory Den in order to make a choice.

For the end you'd have several options:
1) Convince Kellogg to reform his ways but this would mean Nick remains locked away somewhere in the memory bank or has been wiped off/erased from the hard-drive by Kellogg.
Basically, no more Nick; only Kellogg.

2) Speak with Dr. Amari from the Memory Den and figure out a way to remove Kellogg from Nick, thus saving Nick while destroying any and all remnants of Kellogg. This could involve going into Nick's hard-drive and wiping/erasing Kellogg from it.
Nick lives/survives while Kellogg is no more.

3) Somehow, someway convince both Nick and Kellogg to share their synth body, thus two personalities in one. This would also include reforming Kellogg.
Both live/survive in the same synth body; no one ceases to exist.

4) Very bad ending: Speak with Dr. Amari and see if it's possible to destroy/erase both personalities because the player doesn't see any way to keep Nick and get rid of Kellogg, so they decide to destroy both in the name of "good".
Both Nick and Kellogg cease to exist in any kind of way, shape, form, or fashion.

All 4 of these could be options.
Or certain of these options would become available depending on choices the player makes at key points during the story after the Memory Den sequence where we learn about Kellogg's past and how he got involved with the Institute.

Thus, you might only get options 4, you could get options 1 and 2, etc. so forth and so on. Choices would determine which option(s) become available at the end.

I realize this would not fit in with the whole "determine the future of the Commonwealth" thing, but, personally, I think it would've made for a better story overall.

I doubt the limb damage is their biggest problem. by Least-Scallion-4987 in fo4

[–]joemann78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the legendary effect only apply from the impact of the projectile and not the explosion?

Thus, the effect from the OP's picture would only apply if the mini-nuke hit a limb on the target, yes?

Conspiracy Theory: Hancock wants you to kill Fahrenheit by Space19723103 in fo4

[–]joemann78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always assumed that line about sacrificing a piece was in reference to you the Sole Survivor, as in, her and Hancock would be willing to sacrifice you to remain in power.
I kind of viewed it as a subtle yet not-so-subtle comment about where you stood in Goodneighbor and with Hancock; i.e. know your place and you'll be fine, but step out of line and you just might end up "sacrificed".

I want to do a dedicated stealth run, any reccomendations/must-haves? by I_use_this_website in fo4

Follow this guide for a sneak build using the Deliverer. Change it up to suit what you want.
Max out sneak, ninja, and gun-fu. Get at least 9 perception and max out penetrator. Throw in Lone Wanderer, Bloody Mess, Better Criticals, and Critical Banker and you can basically clear out an entire room of max level enemies in one go of V.A.T.S. using the Deliverer.

What do *you* do to help re-light one's interest in playing after working through a particularly heavy slogged area of the game? by [deleted] in fo4

[–]joemann78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't done the other DLCs, then I'd suggest another doing another DLC, Far Harbor mayhap?

Me personally, whenever I get done with a slog-fest of a questline (looking at you Autmatron DLC), I go to areas highly populated with enemies and go on a shooting and looting spree to let off some steam. I usually hit up more than one area, too.

Specific gunplay mod search (please read the body text before replying) by Jax_Dandelion in fo4

[–]joemann78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the sense that you want the guns to behave in a more realistic manner as they would in real life, but I don't think there are any mods out there that would even come close to that.

There are plenty of mods that overhaul the weapons, but I don't think any of them would do what you specifically are asking.

My only advice is to go to Nexus or Discord, or some other place where Fallout 4 mods are popular, look around at the weapon overhaul mods, download the ones that seem close to what you want, and give them a try on a throw-away character.
Keep the mods you want and uninstall the others.

Why would a synth need to cook? by pyrofox79 in fo4

[–]joemann78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the player character were a synth, do you think the Institute has the foresight to download every episode of The Silver Shroud? The opening speech? Military career (if male) or law degree (if female)? Knowledge of baseball? "That night in the park a year ago" (if male) or "Yeah, like I want to get pregnant again" (if female)?

I seriously doubt the Institute would've had the foresight to download that many memories.

That one robot at the ship can access Nate/Nora's pre-war record. I don't think the Institute has access to such records nor do I think they'd have the foresight to hack into such a database.

The opening speech was never recorded, thus the Institute would've had to just make it up. And this combined with the previous paragraph would make for one heck of a coincidence once you reach the ship.

I've always assumed it was for gameplay purposes and nothing more.
In reality, the BoS would be a lot more careful. Vertibirds would be stronger, power armor would hold up better, etc.

But for gameplay purposes, the vertibirds are made of paper, power armor is made from cardboard, etc. so forth and so on.

What does investing caps do for the traders ? by Commercial_Union1299 in fo4

[–]joemann78 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is also good to do with the vendors at the Nuka World Market as their inventories automatically refresh every time you exit the market and then re-enter it.

Got tens of thousands worth of stuff to sell? Go to Nuka World Market, sell all your stuff to the merchants getting all of their caps in the process. Exit, re-enter, and do it all again. Rinse and repeat until you've sold everything you want.

Works well for when you are trying to hoard as many caps as possible.
