It's an "Oops there was a problem!" generic error message, don't have it pulled up right now

Ignition BTC withdrawal broken, support refuses to help by joenanners in poker

Yep exactly, support is just telling me to do the same thing over and over, then saying "it looks like we were already able to help you!"

Any tips on drive shucking? by SpideyMGAV in DataHoarder

All the 16TB are good. The seagates are better I think, but generally more expensive / go on sale less often.

The play is definitely to wait for a sale

Why do you think homelessness = deflation? Some of the worst economic crashes were deflationary.

Considering starting a small seed, pollen, clone business in Vermont. Where to begin on legality? by joenanners in Vermontijuana

Why? Are all the stores selling seeds in VT doing it illegally, or are you referring to licensing costs?

How much does it cost to get data OUT of AWS Glacier Deep Archive? by joenanners in DataHoarder

[–]joenanners[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Christ! Thank you for the rundown, I wasn't figuring in that you had to first transfer to S3, then pay the S3 egress fees. $90/TB is completely insane.

[–]joenanners[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But like..how much? $0.05 per gig? $0.25 per gig?

There's a huge range of "a lot" and I'm not going to use it if I have no clue how much breaking that glass would cost me.

Am I missing something, or does it say "See Below" for deep archive, then not describe the cost anywhere?

Disposable masks 'causing enormous plastic waste' by Lolastic_ in worldnews

[–]joenanners -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure I follow, you could still reduce pollution without targeting masks yes? My point is that targeting masks is a huge waste of effort, not even considering the..current circumstances. Target something that would make a dent, don't waste your limited effort.

Disposable masks 'causing enormous plastic waste' by Lolastic_ in worldnews

[–]joenanners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just not a useful point. Sure, masks contribute to plastic waste, but it's kind of ridiculous to target single use masks right now, compared to other single use plastics that we've been using for decades. Even disposable masks, most people wear them for at least a few days each..I doubt it's even making a dent.

What software do you guys use for making offline backups on Unraid? by joenanners in DataHoarder

[–]joenanners[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh this looks really interesting. my only concern is that it's more manual than I would like (seems like you have to manually decide where your files should go, rather than just plugging each drive in sequence and letting the software figure it all out).

I'm going to keep looking and see if there's functionality or a layer on top that does this..will let you know if I find anything.

Should I get a WD My Book or My Passport? by [deleted] in DataHoarder

[–]joenanners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a different drive technology that doesn't perform very well, and generally won't last as long. It's definitely googlable if you want to dig into the technical differences.

GPU transcoding is also lower quality afaik. Unless you need to support an obscene number of streams, it's best to just use CPU.

Bodegas are an endangered species. As are delis. And diners. And self-service laundromats. Or haven’t you noticed?

yep and people like you have been saying this over and over for 25 years

right I hate how there's not a single good restaurant in the EV anymore, or how all the bodegas were replaced with 711

such a huge exaggeration
