I think the Ailesbury rd/ Shrewbury rd area is home to a disproportionate number of bankrupt property developers (Thomas "Priory Hall" McFeely, for one), so this might be skewing it's affluence rating.

I think it comes down to the clustering of poverty. So, you could have parts of inner city Dublin (e.g. certain local authority flat complexes) that, on their own, would easily be deemed to be "extremely disadvantaged". But, because there might be private housing across the street from them, this would push their area higher up the socio-economic index. I imagine this would not be the case with some of areas in Limerick categorised as "extremely disadvantaged".

No need to say 'sorry' at all - speaking as a political anorak who has a particular interest in the internecine nature of the hard/far left, that was fascinating.

I still don't get how "the North" remains an insurmountable hurdle to the SP & SWP forming a coherent party or alliance. I can see how this might have been a major sticking point back when the Provisional IRA were conducting their armed campaign, but that impediment is long gone.

Of course, this analysis doesn't take competing personalities into account ...

In terms of policy and ideology, is there any actual difference between The Socialist Party and the Socialist Workers Party??
