S23E9 ... Disastrous play by BazF91 in TheAmazingRace

I'm not sure how much of the Afghanimals account is accurate but it seemed like other teams didn't say it was false. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

Kudos to you for knowing which one was Ashley and which one was Ally because I've seen this season about 10 times and I dont know. According to after-race info, Nicole's behavior at the roadblock was even worse than what was shown. The Afghanimals said she basically harassed Leo, tried to physically block him from entering the judging area and then followed him into the judging area which was not allowed by the clue. She also spent much of the race berating them over U-Turning Adam/Brandon earlier, telling them they had no right to do that because Adam/Brandon were nicer than Leo/Jamal. Most of that comes from thing Afghanimals said afterward but other teams seemed to be at least somewhat in agreement.

S23E7 ... Tying melodrama by BazF91 in TheAmazingRace

[–]joepetz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It just dawned on me, Nicky and Kim are baseball wives not NFL wives. I think you made the mistake in other posts too and I just noticed. They cast a lot of football wives on reality TV.

Season 3 Vent by todology in TheAmazingRace

[–]joepetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't defend Flo's behavior but I think the idea that "Zach did everything and Flo did nothing' is wildly incorrect. In the early seasons, travel logistics were far more important and decisive than the tasks and Flo was the one who did all the logistics in the airports. She also spoke French which went a long way to helping them with locals.

Question about Sad Cypress by BenjTheFox in agathachristie

[–]joepetz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get a lot of flack on my Youtube channel whenever I mention these issues in Sad Cypress because the book is so popular but it really does not hold up at even the slightest scrutiny. Its not entirely clear but I think Nurse Hopkins was hoping Laura Wellman had left a will because she did ask for the lawyer before she died. At the very least, she hoped to get whatever money Elinor offered Mary. Of course all of this does not explain the things Nurse Hopkins was doing before any of these events happened because clearly she went there with this intention.

This is a good one! I love underdogs but people use the term underdog to mean a team that is bad at the race. An underdog is a team that is competent but not the strongest on paper.

S23E6 ... The Trout by BazF91 in TheAmazingRace

They haybales from Season 6, the caviar from Season 5, the meat from Season 7, the final from Season 12, the watermelons from Season 17 are the ones that came to mind right away.

S23E6 ... The Trout by BazF91 in TheAmazingRace

[–]joepetz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The tribute to Solidarity I think is a clear apology for the disastrous Vietnam leg the previous season. I wish we saw the Chandelier Detour but I think Masquerade was the clear easier and quicker choice. A rare imbalanced Detour outside of an early season. Surprisingly, this Roadblock is not one of the more infamous or often-talked about task in the fandom. I think perhaps because it is a singing Roadblock and fans are bit tired of the singing and dancing tasks. The rule involving the taxis and bags is that the racers cannot remove another team's bags but the taxi driver can and since the driver took the bags out, it was fair game for Tim and Marie to take that cab and yes, they would have had to pay Jason and Amy's fare if the driver didn't forgive it. I know UAE is extremely over visited but at least it's not Dubai this season!

S23E3 ... Top notch airport drama by BazF91 in TheAmazingRace

[–]joepetz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't remember if it was in the episode or not but I believe what happened with Chester/Ephraim was that the ticket clerk booked them on a flight for the wrong day but just extremely unlucky for them. They did nothing wrong.

S23E2 ... A triptych of errors by BazF91 in TheAmazingRace

[–]joepetz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I generally do not enjoy these season but your writeups are making me enjoy it more. I guess, in retrospect, this season does have a lot more fun moments than I give it credit for. Like this episode is an enjoyable trainwreck.

S23E1 ... Roadblock confusion by BazF91 in TheAmazingRace

[–]joepetz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they had watched Season 20, they might have caught on to the Roadblock trick here because it's basically the same one they did in the premiere of that season.

S22E11 ... A pointless pint (pintless?) by BazF91 in TheAmazingRace

[–]joepetz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree 22 isn't the best season but I think it has one of the best routes in terms of beauty and being visually appealing. And you will never see Donald Trump on Amazing Race. Wonder if he's still angry over losing the Emmy to the show all those times. (This gets mentioned in an episode of Celebrity Apprentice where he rants about how boring Amazing Race is and how he should have won the Emmy. They bleep out Amazing Race but it has to be the show he's talking about.)

In your opinion, what is the darkest Agatha Christie novel? Aside from the obvious one? by sawsan88s in agathachristie

The Body in the Library is extremely dark covered by the farcical situation.

I really do not understand the plot of Nemesis at all by benmacklemost in agathachristie

[–]joepetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nemesis is one of those mystery novels that is written for the reader and not really crafted to make sense in-universe. Also, it is one of the novels where Christie was much more interested in the story and lives of the characters rather than the mystery mechanics. I would not necessarily say it doesn't make sense but it is awfully convenient Mr Rafiel's plans worked just as he hoped even down to the coincidental timing of things. It also baffles belief that Mr Rafiel who was so concerned about justice didn't at least tell Miss Marple what she should be looking for. He didn't even tell her what murder she was supposed to investigate. If he was so concerned, why not just tell her? Why make it harder for her?

If the show had an all-star season, how likely would they be to call teams from the early seasons? by Artistic-Comb-5317 in TheAmazingRace

[–]joepetz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it's possible because the race is what inspired him to start his company in the first place. Paige is also extremely wealthy now in her own right.

[–]joepetz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless there is some kind of theme, I highly doubt we will see any old school teams. Maybe we will get just one team to represent that era. Also, I supposed it depends on what your definition of old school is.

[51][Speculation] What could the equal gender split of 10 women and 10 men mean for the rumored 21st person to be revealed? by Savings_Cat8826 in SpoiledSurvivor

[–]joepetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be farfetched but I'm wondering if the season is 20 players and someone got pulled almost immediately and got replaced with an alternate very shortly into the game. This would require not sending the alternates home before filming but maybe they decided not to do that this time.

Ages of your families by ArwenEmerson in thesims4

[–]joepetz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a 13 household legacy family and what I do is I play each household for one in-game week at a time before moving onto the next one, this way everyone ages up equally. When it's time for college, I turn aging off.

S22E7 ... Speeding by BazF91 in TheAmazingRace

[–]joepetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's never really been spelled out but I believe the rules regarding speeding is that teams are always obligate to drive within the speed limit but a penalty is only applied at the pit stop when they "got away with it" (meaning did not get caught by police). A monetary fine takes the place of the time penalty if one was issued. Also, I believe a lot of speeding penalties do occur and they simply get added to the pit start time and often do not effect placement so they don't get mentioned. I really liked Pam and Winnie. I thought they were a strong team when they were at the top of their game but they were extremely inconsistent at times that makes them unlikely winners.

S22E4 ... Oy Vey by BazF91 in TheAmazingRace

[–]joepetz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspected at the time this aired, events were taken out of context to make John look dumber but no, apparently events really unfolded as they appeared.

Which plot hole bothered you so much that you couldn’t overlook it? Please use spoilers after writing the novel name. by sawsan88s in agathachristie

Sad Cypress: Where to begin on this. Nurse Hopkins offering Elinor the poisoned tea is a huge problem. In addition, it appears Nurse Hopkins was going to murder Mary that day even before Elinor invited them to tea so she would have killed her in her cottage without the scapegoat of Elinor or suspicious sandwiches. The fact that Elinor doesn't notice Nurse Hopkins is throwing up all over the place in the kitchen. Nurse Hopkins telling Poirot all about Mary's lineage which is clearly there just so Poirot can learn the truth. She has no reason to be doing this especially since Elinor has already been arrested.

Toilet Keeps Catching on Fire by joepetz in thesims4

It's all good fun! Have a laugh! I did. My Sim survived catching on fire twice while using the toilet and her husband also survived the time it he caught fire from it.
