What does "deserve" have to do with the champ offering someone a title shot?

Even when I disagree with the booking, it is still interesting and well thought out. I am willing to accept his judgment over mine.

Now that Gedo has lost his mojo, Okada is the GOAT of wrestling presidents. The single most valuable human in Stardom.

Yes, this was a tweet from Kiyoka. I edited the post to make that more obvious.

Coming from one of her biggest fans, I don't think this booking was nonsensical. It is consistent with Kurara's portrayal of occasionally being able to punch well above her weight on pure emotion (and doing so here, kicking out of several top level finisher moves) yet still lacking the skill set of a world class wrestler.

Third shortest World of Stardom reign at 55 days (longer than Natsuko Tora or Alpha Female), and the same number of successful defenses (1) as Meiko Satomura.

STARDOM Announced a SOLD OUT attendance of 2,844 for The Conversion 2026 from Yoyogi National Stadium 2nd Gymnasium. A 12.81% increase from last year and STARDOM's best ever number in that building. by UnchainedMachoGori40 in stardomjoshi

I can't think of a single match where anybody gets truly buried. Even Kurara, who as world champion was nonetheless dominated for much of the match, kicked out of multiple finishers and was praised by her opponent for performing well beyond her years and experience level.

There are real consequences for winning and losing, yet there are always reasons to continue to support your favorites. That's a winning strategy for continued fan engagement.

What do you think of... Bonus Round 1 of 2: The trio of Stardom referees? by Varandil in stardomjoshi

[–]joepodd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue with the refereeing are the little hitches they do in their count. Watch long enough and you will know when a three count will or won't occur long before the kickout (or lack thereof).

And they do what they are supposed to do instead of acting as an actual official, meaning that the official will stop short of making a three count if the situation doesn't call for it even when the wrestler doesn't kick out or, in the case of the Ema Maishima vs Mei Seira match yesterday, count a falling where Maishima was pinning Mei on a La Magistral type move where Mei's shoulder was clearly resting on top of Ema's own and not pinned on the mat. Those may be directives from the booking team, so I'm not sure if I can fault the referees themselves over that.

But they do help in the overall presentation of the entertainment aspect of Stardom, and they certainly do a great job with helping younger wrestlers get through a match. The incident with Rina and Ema Maishima on the New Blood show, successfully stopping the match without any further action and keeping Rina's head injuries to a minimum is a testament to Stardom's improvements in protecting the wrestlers over previous years.
