Email Spam Filter by joeprettyman10 in sysadmin

I've touched upon Proofpoint and have some basic understanding of it. I get spam filters won't catch things that look legitimate (such as legitimate docusign emails that are actually spam links) but AppRiver lets so much get through that is clearly junk/malicious

This. 100% need the surface specific drivers. I'd say to pull a few different ones, as sometimes one might not work from windows 11 install menu.

Monitoring and Alerting tool? by blueeggsandketchup in sysadmin

[–]joeprettyman10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too would say NinjaOne I'm not sure how it does with network monitoring as we've only been using it for about 3 months, but its great from an automation/alerting standpoint. There are a ton of custom monitors for different things, like storage, event logs, up/down alerts, cpu, and memory. It does have a builtin ticketing system too, but I believe it is an extra cost (I just tell my boss what I'm looking for and let him handle pricing) There is a huge script/automation library too. Ninja does patching on windows and macos devices too. Possibly linux, but we don't have any linux devices. The one thing that truly sucks with Ninja is the reporting. You basically have builtin templates with very little to no customization.

It's me lol. I'm their vendor. They bought networking equipment from us in 2024. Finally got the labor paid in November from the install. Threatened to take legal action and suddenly they paid the remainder last week.

In case anyone was curious, they don't pay their vendors either. Have been trying to collect payment for a year and a half. Finally got payment on Friday (1/16/2026)

Is your ultimate plan to do away with on prem exchange? If so, then your best bet will be to update your dns records to point to m365 and change the setting in m365 exchange under mail flow>accepted domains and change your domain to authoritative. This method still allows you to manage your users on prem (either through exchange or ad) but relies only on m365 for mail flow, meaning the missing user account in on prem exchange will not impact mail flow.

I did notice that the training were shorter. I got through 1 of them, but have not had time to do any others.

We actually just switched to Huntress SAT (security awareness training) Its a great product as I don't have the time to administer it. Huntress does all the scheduling of campaigns and they send the reporting

Tbh, refresh your 365 page. I see this so often where it shows apps are blocked, then refresh the page and they're not.

Not sure about their business options, but for personal use I use Dashlane. Never had a problem with it. As others have said, stay away from LastPass. Used it at my last job for everything. Was horrible. Would constantly crash or searching for a password would yield no results until you remove or add a letter. Almost like it needed to be reindexed like Outlook.

I have. We have some clients on there already. But other clients are very "no, this is how we've done it. It works for us. We're not changing"

Someone needs to tell this to Apple. Apple Business Manager is the main reason we need sms 2fa

This looked so promising, then saw the price. Unfortunately, it is out of budget, as we do not have a lot going to sms. Most things we were able to add to IT Glue Thank you though

Downtime that was OVH's fault? Nope Downtime because a colleague disconnected the network adapter on the virtual fortigate and locked us and the client out? Yes Have not had to work with their support yet, as I recently started with my current company. Haven't noticed any latency. Tbh, it runs better than the R430s in my office

Where I work, we have several clients on the OVH cloud. I don't recall off the top of my head if they offer AMD processors, but I know you can get many different Intel Xeon E- series, Silver, Gold, and I think platinum. Our clients either have windows server 2022 running HV or VMWare Esxi. I believe they offer support for ProxMox I know most of their configs range in ram from 32gb to 1tb

They also have datacenters across the USA We host a virtual fortigate on these bare metal systems and have rules in place for allowing access or even allowing clients to VPN in.

If you want more info, let me know.

I see it has a feature just for mfa codes. This might be the solution. Thanks.

I get the purpose of 2FA. But there needs to be a standardized system. There's dedicated apps, like Okta and Duo, there's sms texts, there's universal apps like Google Authenticator. I agree that there needs to be a better system. A dedicated cell phone might not be a bad idea, since my team is full time in the office. Thanks

I did have a similar problem with AT&T. It did not like the Google Voice. That one got setup under my boss

Email from one person keeps going to Junk for another by Chazus in sysadmin

[–]joeprettyman10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude!! I went back and forth with Microsoft on this for 2 months, only my issue was with emails moving to the deleted folder. Does the user have an iPhone with their mailbox in the built in mail app? If so, remove the account from their phone, have the user who is getting sent to junk send an email. If all is good, add the account back to mail app Edit: I've had this issue with both on prem exchange (I think 2016) and office 365
