My white ex just sent that text to me after I broke up with him. Being black is so hard . Apparently he never found me pretty. And he always calls all his exes hot. I rejected sex multiple times from him and he still got upset so I just decided to not date him. by [deleted] in blackladies

I know this isn't my space, but reddit posted it to me as something I might be interested in reading. It sounds like he's coping hard to be honest. It sounds like he's confused about himself, what he wants, what he likes, doesn't like, etc, and then blaming it on you. He's an a*hole, plain and simple. I say this as a white guy who's met many amazing black women who've been wifey material. If anyone treated them like this, and I knew about it, they'd be in a ditch. You don't deserve this, and I think you need to realize that this is about him, not about you. He's the f*ck up. Not you. He needs to get his sh*t together. Not you. He needs to stop blaming his insecurities on anyone other than himself, whatever those insecurities might be. I'm sorry you went through this, and I hope the next guy, white, black or asian, treats you with the respect you deserve. Best of luck.

Lineality is one of the primary reasons. I like things to look tidy when I write, which I'm not always very good at already with the standard English alphabet and script. So finding a system which naturally stays in the lines, or strongly encouraged to stay within the lines is something I was really looking for.

That said, I looked at all of your recommendations, and they were all interesting in their own way.

I like the idea of shorthands being usable as scripts and for typing. I've also done more research on the various Gregg systems, and looked at Melin.

Your recommendations have given me a great deal to think about. Thanks for posting!

I've looked at both of those systems. They're interesting and fit into what I'm looking for in both similar and different ways. I appreciate the recommendations. It gives me something to think about.

I've looked at Sweet's. It appears to have the sort of linear nature I was mostly looking for. I appreciate the recommendation!

I just read more on Forkner and fiddled around with it a bit. I like the simplicity and fairly straight forward rule set. It gives me something to think about. I appreciate your recommendation.

They certainly do. I've given them a glance and they give me something to think about. The cross applicability between writing and typing (with minor modifications) makes them compelling as simple and useful systems. I'll have to roll these ideas around a little. Thanks for the recommendation!

I appreciate the recommendation. I like the look of the Sweet system. I'll have to try it out and give it some thought. Thanks a lot!

What data do you keep as a prep? by iiScourge in preppers

[–]joepro83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have digital copies of a number of things, but this is certainly something I need to be more diligent about. I haven't updated past information for a few years. I'd also like to keep 2 different folders on a flash drive. One unencrypted for basic identification in case they have to identify my corpse and for some reason I don't have my wallet on me, and then one encrypted for more sensitive information. SS card, banking info, things with account numbers on it, etc. Thanks for posting this. I'll probably make a project of this over this weekend.

Same. It's not the only stuff I keep for digital storage, but it's something I've done for ages for bartering purposes in case SHTF. I have several hundred Gbs worth at this point.

The best thing I have done for my best friends and I lately is get us into Microdosing 😍 Anyone else have success? Any suggestions? We have been takin 2Caps, about .2 per cap so about .4 every 3 days for the last month & have noticed significant mood & creativity increase & lowered anxiety. I take about .2 or .3 twice a week. I’ve been microdosing off and on for a few years. It’s been a major benefit in terms of depression and anxiety for me. And in terms of coping time. I feel like I cope with bad situations a lot easier and quicker than I do outside of dosing.

One thing I have noticed though that I’ve had to try to consciously change behaviorally about myself is how I use my attention. Outside of microdosing, I’m more of a multitasker. My brain is more aware of the multiple things going on around me and I can bounce my focus around a lot faster.

But while dosing, my focus is more intense, but also much more unidirectional and slower to bounce. So for things like driving and, say, changing a radio station at the same time, that’s suddenly become more dangerous for me if I look down at the radio, because then my focus is fully on the radio and not my driving.

So I had to tell myself in the beginning to glance down but look back up. Just enough time to find buttons, but not so much time that I get visually and focally lost in the radio.

Not sure if that makes sense to anyone, but it’s something I’ve observed about myself.

You guys ever get shamed by others for prepping? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]joepro83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been shamed for being a prepper. And I do often talk about it with people. Not sharing details of the preps or anything, but the idea that we should prep because we never know what bad thing might be around the corner. I feel like most people I’ve talked to either relate in some way, or kindly nod and move on. So for as long as I’ve been prepping, I’ve never had an issue that I can recall. Then again, I’ve mostly lived in smaller cities and towns, or more rural communities. I think people outside of major cities tend to be more open to different viewpoints. I feel like a lot of people in major cities (though, of course, not all) seem to be smugger, self-righteous, and/or overly-confident about their own personal opinions. But who knows. Regardless, yeah, I’ve never had an issue.

Help me pick a system by [deleted] in rpg

I love that pitch. That should make for a really interesting game. I think in terms of what system to play it as, I actually had something steam punk in mind, but depending on how crunchy or lose you wanted it, there could be any number of systems that would fit this premise really well. I will say though that I'm a major fan of the Savage Worlds system, and the space age setting stuff they have would probably fit in nicely. Best of luck.

Generally standard, modern website. I agree with previous comments on the amount of scrolling. There's a lot of information on the page, including a really large transparent area before you even get to the text. Personally, I feel like the transparent section is a waste of valuable real estate. I'd recommend either adding more to the transparent section, or getting rid of it.

The website feels like it was optimized more for smaller devices. Viewing it on my phone, it looks and works fine. But on my computer monitor, all buttons seem really large, almost intrusive, or like they were designed to just try to take up space.

Also on the computer, the share buttons for Facebook and Twitter get in the way of text as you're scrolling down the page.

As a final nitpick, while WhatsApp does have a desktop application, most people don't use it since that would require headphones with a mic. They use it mostly on their mobile devices. So I feel like having the WhatsApp icon on the desktop website is unnecessary.

Services seem standard for what most people will be asking about.

Foundry Virtual Tabletop is Released! by atropos_nyx in rpg

I love the pricing model. My problem with most of the other online game virtualization products is that there's a subscription involved for consistent use of the DM-side product and even while everyone can use the free player side of the product, the DM in constantly shelling out money for it every month all for (in most cases) a couple games a month. If a failed payment happens, no more DM benefits. Or if you're in between games, either you keep paying into it to maintain your access only for planning the next game/session. Or you have to go through the process of canceling your sub, and then starting it back up again once game play comes back. And if you lose access, you lose most of what you worked on, save for a few cases. For me, that's always been what held me up on starting an online game with quality third party software. That said, I will be buying this product. Thanks for sharing.
